Question: What would be great for teenagers to cook together!?
I have a house full of teenagers this weekend and we are having a cook off in the kitchen!. Anything inexpensive that can be made from scratch!? I am looking to keep them busy for awhile too but without going broke!. What would be great for them too cook!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mexican food like tacos/burritos is also good as well!. Like those (taco/burrito kits) !.

They can cut all the veggies up (tomatoes lettuce and onions) and the cheese can shredded as well!. It is Basic and to the point!. that will take up some time to make!.Along with browning the beef!.



Choices for dessert!.

Brownies/ice cream for dessert!. they can make and garnish them with nuts,MM's or whatever is not to expensive!.


Brownie mixes can be found at a 1$ store or an Audi's near you!.

Moose pie is good and also inexpesive!. Depending on how many teens 1-2 graham crusts 2-3 packets of chocolate pudding, and whipped topping and chocolate sprinkles!.

Mix pudding and whipped topping together, pour into graham crust and chill for 1-2 hrs!. Garish with chocolate sprinkles (or real chocolate) or/and peanut butter chips!. Simple but Very good!

Another dessert recipe!. Get a white cake mix gelatine jello and whipped topping!.

Cook cake according to directions, prepare jello by cooking it!.

Poke holes in (DONE) cake using toothpicks!.

(CAREFULLY) pour jello over cake (jello will be hot) ! Put cake in refrigerator and let cool!. (MAKE SURE ITS COOL THOUGH)

Finally Then spread whipped topping over cake and enjoy VERY GOOD STUFF! One of my childhood favorites!Www@FoodAQ@Com

How 'bout you give them ingredients and they have to come up with the method and recipe to create the best dish!? You could work in teams or individuals!. Best burgers, best pizza, best chicken dish, best dessert!.!.!.!.the creativity would be awesome! When you open up your kitchen to the creativity, you could have some real masterpieces produced!

If you wanted to you could also give them a different staple to begin with!.!.!.for desserts for example one team gets a cake mix, one gets a puff pastry, another a box of strawberries, etc!. They know what they will begin with and can bring things to make the end product!.

Just figure out the rules beforehand and either let them know and plan, or it be a surprise!. So many options, but lots of fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depending on how many you had maybe you can pair or group them off by courses!. You could have a soup, a main dish, side dish(es) and dessert!.

They might like to try Asian food - it's not something cooked at home all that commonly, not like mac & cheese!. By using lots of fresh veggies the prep would occupy them and the cost would be low!. You could have each kid do a Mongolian Barbecue style turn at the wok and taste-test the results!. You could even surprise them Iron Chef-style with a unique ingredient!

Cheeseburger Macaroni --
1 lb!. ground beef
1/4 onion, minced
1 cloves garlic, minced
14 1/2 oz!. can diced tomatoes
2 cups raw macaroni, (cook according to package directions and drain)
1 can Campbells Cheddar cheese soup
salt & pepper to taste

Saute the onion and garlic in a little olive oil!. Add the ground beef and brown!. Add the diced tomatoes, including the liquid in the can!. Simmer until the liquid is mostly reduced!.!.!.5 to 10 minutes!. Stir in the macaroni and Cheddar cheese soup!. Heat through!.

You can always add more cooked macaroni if you need to stretch the dish a bit!.

Pasta Pizza:

1 pound box any pasta
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 large egg
1 Jar Marinara Sauce
1 pound ground beef
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
13 x 9 glass baking dish

In a large stock pot boil water to cook pasta, follow package directions!. Drain!. Measure cream in large bowl, add egg, mix well, add pasta and mix well!.

While pasta is cooking brown ground beef in large saute pan and add the marinara sauce!. Simmer on low!.

Lightly grease a 13 x 9 glass baking dish!. Pour pasta into dish, top with meat mixture and spread cheese on top!. Bake for 20-25 minutes uncovered or until cheese has melted!.

You could use a mild sausage or turkey sausage for a different twist!.

Four Cheese Macaroni Casserole

Ingredients-
3 cups uncooked macaroni
1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese


Preparation-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to boil over high heat!. Add macaroni, and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes!. Drain, and pour hot pasta into a casserole dish!.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, stir together tomatoes, italian seasoning, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper!.
Stir into the hot pasta 1 cup of Cheddar, 1 cup of mozzarella, and 1/2 cup of Parmesan!. Continue to stir until the cheeses have melted!. Then stir in tomato and herb mixture!. Sprinkle 1/2 cup Cheddar, 1/2 cup mozzarella, 1/4 cup Parmesan, and 1/4 cup feta over the top of the casserole!.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 25 minutes!.

Pasta With Chicken in Creamy Garlic Sauce

2 cups shell pasta
4 tablespoons canola oil
4 boneless chicken breast, cubed
4 cups whole milk
3 tablespoons flour
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
2-3 minced garlic clove
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup frozen peas or broccoli (optional)

Directions
Boil pasta in lightly salted water!.

Fry chicken in canola until lightly browned, set aside!.

In large pot sauté garlic in butter or margarine, do not brown!.

Add flour, salt, pepper to garlic and butter or margarine and mix to form a roux!.

Slowly add milk, whisking to prevent lumps!.

Add parmesan cheese and mix well!.

Cook over medium heat stirring often until sauce thickens!.

Add chicken to the sauce!.

Drain cooked pasta and mix into sauce!.

Serve immediately!.

Fagioli Pasta
8 oz!. (3 cups) uncooked rigatoni (pasta tubes with ridges)
5 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 large carrot, finely chopped (1 cup)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 (19-oz!.) can Progresso? Cannellini Beans, drained, rinsed
1 (14!.5-oz!.) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper

Cook rigatoni to desired doneness as directed on package!. Drain!.

Meanwhile, heat oil in large saucepan over medium-high heat until hot!. Add onion, carrot and garlic; cook 5 to 6 minutes or until tender!.

Add all remaining ingredients except rigatoni!. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated!. Serve over cooked rigatoni!.

Broccoli Beef Bake

Ingred!.
1 1/2 lb ground beef
8oz cream cheese
2 kinds shredded cheese (total 16 oz) (I just buy 2 different bags already shredded)
1 large pkg chopped broccoli
1 lg onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can crecent rolls


Brown meat and chopped onion!. Drain then add cream cheese and soup, mix together!.
Cook (or steam) broccoli!.!.!.spread out in regular size cake pan!.
Spread meat mixture over cooked broccolli!.
Sprinkle all shredded cheese covering mixture!.
Unroll crecent rolls into 2 strips lay over cheese!. Bake per crecent roll directions!.

2 lbs!. raw large shrimp in their shells
1 lb!. butter
1/2 cup peanut oil
3 each cloves garlic, chopped
2 Tbsp!. rosemary
1 tsp!. fresh basil, chopped
