Get a Crock Pot!. You don't have to know what you're doing, it's all about the slow cooking!.

1 1/2 lb!. rump roast
1 medium onion, cut into quarters or eighths
3-4 medium potatoes
a handful or so of baby carrots
1 or 2 cans of beef broth
salt & pepper

That's all you need! Rub salt & pepper into the roast!. Put the onions, potatoes, and carrots in the pot!. Put the roast on top of it!. Pour in the beef broth!. Cook on low for 10-12 hours!.

Strain the liquid and add flour, or any other thickener, to make gravy!.

You can add any other vegetables or seasonings you want, but I have simple tastes!.

10-12 hours on low = 5-6 hours on high!. If you don't have 10-12 hours, Cook on low as long as you can!. Each hour on low = a half hour on high!.

Edit: ack, why is everyone telling you to cook fish!? I don't like fish personally, but it's not simple to cook!. A little off with fish makes a bigger difference than being a little off with beef or chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chicken stroganoff: easy, not too expensive or time consumming and just delicious:

4-5 skinless boneless chicken breasts, cleaned and cut into 1" pieces
2 cups good chicken stock (buy canned, not the cubes)
8 oz (or more) sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup sour cream
Brown chicken pieces in margarine (best) or olive oil (healthier) Couple tablespoons of them
add mushrooms and saute for 3 minutes with the chicken
add broth
bring to boil, lower heat and simmer for about 30 minutes
thicken the broth with Wondra flour ( in where the regular flour is, in a blue cannister!.!.!.its sifted and easier to use than reg!. flour) Just shake some over top of broth and chicken and mushrooms, stirring until dissolved and starts to thicken!.!.!.
remove from heat, stir in sour cream, return to low heat to heat through
Can serve over egg noodles or rice!.!.!.egg noodles are easier to cook!.!.

Very easy recipe that will surely impress your friends:

Quiche:
Buy tenderflake frozen pie shells, yellow box, 2 per

for each shell use 4 eggs, and a bit of milk (like 3 or 4 tablespoons) and whisk together in a cooking bowl and set aside until you're ready to add the "toppings"

Different options exist, but here are 2 of my personal favorites (I made them up):

tomato and herb: (easiest)

slice tomatoes then cut into four so slices are cut like a pie
put basil
put orange cheddar
add these ingredients into the bowl with the egg mixture

spinach and feta: (less easy)

buy a pack of frozen chopped spinach and let it sit out to defrost (over night or use microwave)
drain all water (just squeeze the paper box that it's in until all the water's out)
use 1/2 to 3/4 of the box
grate some feta cheese
add the two ingredients into the bowl with the egg mixture

** mix the ingrediants with the egg mixture and pour into shell
** pop in oven for about 35 minutes at 350C, you'll know it's done when two things occur: you put a fork into the middle of one of the pies and the eggs are cooked all the way through; the crust is golden brown

quiche is best served with a romaine salad (try putting tomatoes, avocado, sunflower seeds and sprouts for super yummy salad)

homemade salad dressing:
equal parts white vinegar and soy sauce (about 1/4 cup each);
1 clove of garlic and about the same in ginger minced (chop very very finely - takes patience/time unless you have a mincer)
a splash of olive oil
** stir well each time before putting on your salad

EAT - yum!!!

also, quesdillas are super easy and really yummy/health:

buy tortilla shells (the flat round ones that are big)
put any ingredients you want laid on half the shell (always use cheese plus other things like fried chicken, tomatoes, green onions, peppers)
** fold shell in half so it looks like a half circle/moon
** pop in oven and let it cook, at 350C, for about 10 minutes (you'll know it's done when the outer crusts are brown)
** cut half moon into four pizza looking slices
** serve with tortilla chips and salsa and guacamole

Guacamole:
1 whole avocado, (it'll be a bit squishy and a bit brown on the outside when it's ready - put it in a dark place or next to a banana to ripen it)
1/2 tomato diced (little pieces)
squeeze some lime (maybe 1/2 lime)
dice some jalapeno peppers if you like it hot
squish all of this together in a normal cereal bowl, using a fork, it's best if you let it chill for 1/2 an hour before serving cuz then the ingredients have a chance to get intimate

Salsa (amazingly yummy)
3 tomatoes diced
1/2-1 lime squeezed
1/2 cup of cilantro chopped
1/2 red onion chopped
jalapeno pepper to taste (if you like it hot)
mix and again, let it chill for a bit for best results
