Question: I need cheap meal ideas for a week!!?
I've been searching for cheap meal ideas and everyone give different recipes - but it gets expensive when I have to get different items for different days!. Can someone please give me a grocery list for one week for two people and dinner recipes that I can make for the entire week!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

1 bag of chicken breasts
1 lb!. hamburger
cans of diced tomatoes (italian flavored, mexican flavored)
cans of beans (dark red kidney, black, canellini, chick peas)
Jars of Spaghetti Sauce
Jars of Alfredo Sauce
2 frozen pizza dough balls (in the grocery freezer section, near the frozen bread!. They are usually about $1!.)
Flour tortillas
Franks Red Hot
Shredded Cheese
Pastas

Fresh:
Romaine Lettuce
Tomatoes
Other veggies you like

Above is all pretty cheap!.

Now, you can make:

1) a great big pot of chili and serve it with baked pizza crust that has been sprinkled with garlic salt and olive oil (let the frozen pizza dough thaw and rest, then stretch and bake in the oven about 12 mins on 400!.)

2) Chili Quesadillas by frying flour tortillas topped with a little chili, cheese) with lettuce and tomato on the side

3) Mexican Pasta with 1 jar alfredo sauce, 1 can mexican tomatoes, pasta and some veggies

4) Alfredo Pizza with grilled chicken, alfredo sauce, cheese on pizza crust

5) Buffalo Chicken Quesadillas with chicken diced, cheese, Franks Red Hot, and shredded romaine lettuce

6) Grilled Chicken Sandwiches on the pizza dough as an italian foccaccia bread with lettuce and tomatoes

7) Spaghetti

Woman's Day magazine comes out every 2 weeks, but one of those issues always has a calendar of menus for the entire MONTH - with recipes!. Alot of the items are used as leftovers (made over another day); and they are inexpensive meals!. You might find it on-line, or pick up an issue at the grocery store next time you're there!.!.!.!.!.!.I have a year's subscription and it only cost $9 (24 issues)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tacos and burritos -
hamburger
packet seasoning
shells / tortillas / taco salad bowls
cheese, lettuce, hot sauce
refried beans


Chili - serve with corn bread
hamburger
beans
diced tomatoes or tomato sauce
packet seasoning


Chicken -
legs, thigs, etc!.
Shake and Bake
Serve with a package potatoes or rice


Pork Chops - Pan fry, top with gravy
Brown Gravy
Instant mashed potatoes


Meatloaf -
1 pounds hamburger
1 box stove top (any but cornbread)
Ketchup to top it

Mix and bake at 350* for about 35-45 minutes!. Top w/ ketchup and recook for about 15 minutes!.


Beef Veggie Soup - serve with cornbread
2 pounds stew meat
1 can tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can corn - drained
1 can peas - drained
1 can water

Brown meat and dump the rest in crock pot!. Cook on low 6 hours or on high for 4!. (I add salt, pepper and garlic powder)

So, you will need to buy:

Bag of lamb chops (sainsburies does a bag of basics lamb chops in the frozen section thats nice and cheap)
Sausages (look in the special offers section!. There is usually something in there)
Bag of rice
Runner Beans
Swede
Carrot
Onion
Milk
Cheese
egg
Plain flour
Spices for curry
chick peas or kidney beans or other beans for curry

It's not difficult to eat cheap for just a week!. You can't get much cheaper than stuff like beans,rice,potatoes,mac and cheese!. It would be nice to have some veggies too!. You can go a week without them though if you have to!. Just use uncooked basic staples from grocery store and you might be amazed at how cheap you can eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I guess expensive depends on how much you have to spend!. And what pantry foods you already have in stock!.

The cheapest way I've found is kielbasa!. Where I live I can buy a huge bulk 3lb bag for $4, which can make 3/4 meals!.

cut up & add to a box of rice a roni (or 2) or use home made, link follows


Creamy Potatoes 'N' Kielbasa
1 pkg frozen potatoes (I used cubed raw potatoes)
1 lb kielbasa sausage, cubed
1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 C!. shredded cheddar
1/2 C!. water

In slow cooker combine all ingredients!. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours!. **Do not overcook - will turn to mush**

4-6 servings

Kielbasa recipe
2 peppers, chopped
1 onion, chopped
Kielbasa, chopped, cut at a slant, the more meat that is shown the better
1 C rice
28oz canned tomatoes (DO NOT DRAIN)

Stir all together!.
Bake at 300-350F for 2 hours!.

May need more water though, check at half hour intervals!.

To serve, place scoop on a plate & add a dab of butter!.


Linguine with Zucchini and Kielbasa


6ounces linguine
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons finely minced fresh basil
1 clove garlic, finely minced
12 ounces Kielbasa cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 large sweet red or green pepper, cut into strips
1 sweet onion, chopped
2 small zucchini thinly sliced

1!. Cook linguine in boiling, salted water until al dente!. Drain and set aside!.

2!. For dressing, combine the vinegar, sugar, mustard, basil and garlic; mix well!.

3!. In a medium skillet, cook kielbasa, peppers and onion until onion is tender!. Add dressing and zucchini and cook an additional 2 minutes!.

4!. Toss with linguine and enjoy!.

5 Nice sized Potatoes uou can add more if ya like cut ino small cubes
1 ring smoked sausage

add the sausage and potatoes and cook em in water and u can add some parsley
that is it nice and easy cook the taters untill they are fork done


Kielbasa & Apples
This is such an easy recipe, it only takes a few minutes to put together, turn on the crock pot and you are all done!.
Cut up Kielbasa, add sliced apples and sauerkraut!. Put everything in the crockpot and your done!! The apples really bring out the flavor in the Kielbasa!.

Sausage and Summer Squash
This sausage and veggie toss gets its tangy flavor from a simple-to-make mixture of garlic and Italian dressing!. Top with a sprinkling of green onion, oregano, and Parmesan cheese before serving!.Ingredients

* 1/3 to 1/2 cup bottled Italian salad dressing *
2 cloves garlic, minced *
12 oz!. cooked Polish sausage links, halved lengthwise, sliced diagonally *
3 small yellow summer squash and/or zucchini, quartered lengthwise *
4 wedges Italian flat bread, split *
1/4 cup sliced green onions *
Fresh oregano leaves *
1/4 cup coarsely shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions1!. Preheat broiler!. In small bowl combine dressing and garlic!. In extra-large skillet cook sausage and squash in 2 tablespoons of the dressing mixture for 8 to 10 minutes or until sausage is heated through and squash is almost tender, stirring occasionally!.

2!. Meanwhile, place bread on broiler pan; brush with 1 tablespoon of the dressing mixture!. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 1 to 2 minutes, until lightly toasted!.

3!. Serve sausage and squash with toasted bread!. Drizzle remaining dressing; sprinkle green onions and oregano!. Pass Parmesan cheese!. Serves 4!.


Quick Jambalaya
1 package Spanish Rice-a-Roni
about 3-4 chicken breasts
1/2 pound of sausage -you can use any Polish sausage
1 can of of tomatoes
crushed red pepper (optional)

Cook the chicken breast and sausage till done:
Cook rice-a-roni in large skillet; add the water, tomatoes, seasoning from rice-a-roni, cooked chicken, cooked sausage and cook for about 15 -20 minutes!.

Green Bean Stuff
2 big cans of Allens flat green beans
2 pkgs of turkey polish sausage
1 big red onion cut jullian style
1 jar roasted red bell pepper
2Tbls dill weed
1/3 c extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper to taste


Combine all ingredients in your crock pot set on low and walk away will be perfect in about 4 hours!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
