A simple dessert/treat/snack I make sometimes:
Ingredients: Crescent rolls (like Pilsbury; store brands work fine too); chocolate chips; miniature marshmallows; cinnamon and sugar; butter or margarine!.
What you do: Separate the crescent roll triangles and cut each one roughly in half!. Place one or two marshmallows on each crescent roll piece, and three or four chocolate chips!. Next, form a ball of each one, around the filling!. Make sure to seal all holes by pinching the dough, so that melty chocolate or oozy marshmallow can't escape in the oven!. Dip each ball into a dish of melted butter or margarine, then roll in cinnamon-sugar (the butter step can omitted if desired, but it helps more cinnamon and sugar stick to the dough)!. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake according to the crescent roll's package directions!.
You could even demonstrate to the class how to roll them up and coat them in cinnamon-sugar, then share baked treats with the class!.
Fun variations: For larger treats, don't cut the rolls in half first and double, triple, or quadruple the amount of filling stuff you use!. Try using butterscotch, caramel, or vanilla chips instead of chocolate chips!. Or instead of baking chips and marshmallows, use pie filling!. It's a bit harder to seal the balls without drips, but what you do: Buy any canned pie filling you like!. Place a half-teaspoonful or so on each crescent roll piece!. (For example, when I make them with cherry pie filling, I fish one cherry out of the can for each treat!.) Pie fillings have extra sugar and flavorings which are yummy, but alternatively, you can use fresh fruit pieces as well!.
NOTE: I don't know what to call these!. When people ask, I always just tell them, "It's a surprise," because I use different filling ingredients every time!. So something with the word surprise would be an appropriate name!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
