I am not sure what you mean by over-the-counter ingredients!. If you want a really easy but delicious cake recipe, try this -- buy an already made pound cake!. Cut it in 3 layers -- buy a large can of chocolate frosting and frost the 3 layers and all sides of the cake!. My husband used to make this cake for me when we were dating and I thought he was such a good cook! Little did I know!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure what an "over the counter" ingredient means!. If you don't have vanilla extract as a staple in your pantry, then you probably don't have things like baking soda or baking powder either - and possibly don't have brown or powdered sugar!. So, we'd need to know what you actually have on hand to give you a recipe!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

my recipes only have prescription ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here are two, one requires hardly any work!.

Here is the really easy one!.

Buy large round sugar cookies, 3 inches in diameter!. Smear each one with a layer of cream cheese!. Press fresh strawberries into the cream cheese!. Pour a little bit of strawberry topping over the strawberries!. (the kind you use for ice cream) Cover with a blob of whipped cream and serve!.

This next one requires some work, but it is really easy!. You need flour, sugar, bread crumbs, a lemon and butter!.

Preheat the oven to 350!. Butter an 8 inch square pan generously!. Peel and core the apples, Cut into quarters and then cut each quarter so now w each apple is cut into 8 sections!. Use about 5 or 6 large apples!. Taste one piece!. If it is sour, forget the lemon!. Put the cut pieces into a large bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar!. Taste again and see if it is sweet enough!. Now add lemon but only if needed!. Sprinkle in 1/4 cup of bread crumbs!. Stir and let sit for about 15 minutes while you make the crumble!. If you have cinnamon and nutmeg you can add a dash of whichever one you like!.

Put one cup of flour and 1/2 cup sugar iinto a small bowl!. Cut in one
and a half sticks of butter!. Use two knives to cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly!. You can use your fingers to get little the crumble into the size of blueberries!.

If the apples are very juicey, sprinkle a light layer of breadcrumb into the pan!. Then layer the apples in a single layer!. Dot with butter!. Cover with the crumble!.

Bake at 350 degrees until the apples are soft but not mushy when pierced with a fork!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
