How is a cupcake different from a cake other than the presentation?!


Question: How is a cupcake different from a cake other than the presentation!?
The icing and batter ingredients are identical!. The taste is exactly the same!. So how would someone come to the conclusion that they were two completely different foods are supposedly made using entirely different methods and ingredients and thus having different molecular structures, taste and texture!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

On a technicality, cakes and cupcakes are generally made from a sponge base rather than a batter!.

Cup cakes are small sponge cakes cooked in individual tins or paper cases!. They got their name from the fact they were originally made in cups!.

Recipes can be used interchangably although I think the main difference is that since cup cakes require a much shorter baking time, the sponge needs to be slightly denser in structure!.
