Is brisket best cooked in a slow cooker or pressure cooker?!

Question: Is brisket best cooked in a slow cooker or pressure cooker!?
Answers:
I haven't used a pressure cooker at all, but will usually use the slow cooker or oven!. The recipe below works well with both!. If the slow-cooker is used, place the carrots and onions on the bottom and put the brisket on top, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on HIGH or 8 hours on LOW!. You should still sear the brisket!.

My Favorite Brisket

2 tsp Kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper to taste
1 5-pound brisket of beef
1 garlic clove, peeled
2 tbs vegetable oil
3 onions, peeled and diced
1 10-oz can tomatoes
2 c red wine
2 stalks celery with the leaves, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 sprig fresh thyme
1 sprig fresh rosemary
1/4 c chopped parsley
6 to 8 carrots, peeled and sliced on the diagonal

Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the brisket and rub with the garlic!. Sear the brisket in the oil and then place, fat side up, on top of the onions in a large oven-safe casserole, dutch oven or roasting pan!. Add over top of the brisket the tomatoes, red wine, celery, bay leaf, thyme, and rosemary!.

Cover and bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for about 3 to 4 hours, basting often with pan juices!.

Add the parsley and carrots and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes more or until the carrots are cooked!.

* To test for doneness, stick a fork in the flat (thinner end of the brisket)!. When there is a light pull on the fork as it is removed from the meat, it is "fork tender!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say that the slow cooker is best for brisket as slow cookers are best for fatty foods and as they cook them for a long period, the meat is tenderised!. The pressure cooker cooks things under pressure which is quicker and doesn't give the meat time to become tender!.

A dutch oven is a thick walled iron cooking pot with a tight fitting lid which is used on top of the cooker, very similar to the English casserole dish which is not used on top of the oven but in the oven!.

If you want to do the recipe, I would follow the recipe and once you get to the simmer stage, add it to the slow cooker or casserole dish!.

Hope this helps!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

A dutch oven is essentially a crockpot without the heating element!. A large covered baking dish!.

A crockpot is identical to a slow cooker!.

I cook just about all of my meat in the crockpot!. I used a turkey bag and a roasting pan for a turkey!. Cooked it at 250 degrees for 6-8 hours, it was moist and delicious!. I would do the brisket in the slow cooker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always cooked it a large pot on the oven!.It always came out great!.
Then I tried a cock pot!.!.!.!.!.!.did not work!.
I do not have a slow cooker or pressure cooker, so I really cannot tell you!.
Try each one, with a small brisket, and see how it comes out!.
Myself, I would stick to cooking it on the stove!.
I know it does take time, but worth it one hundred percent!.
I even add my carrots and potatoes in!. I do parboil the carrots first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well you have to say what you are doing with the brisket!. If you are making a stew, use the slow cooker!.If you are making something like pulled brisket, use the pressure cooker!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put it in a smoker!.
It's delicious!Www@FoodAQ@Com
