Can you tell me please, which part of a shallot do you use, the white part or the green part?!

Question: Can you tell me please, which part of a shallot do you use, the white part or the green part!?
When a recipe calls for four shallots, sliced, which part do you use, or do you use all of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Shallots are small purple onions and have no green on them at all!. Your grocer has green onions or scallions!. But if you can't find shallots you can use the white part of the scallions that you bought, but they have a stronger taste than shallots!. Good luck!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Perhaps you're confusing shallots with green onions!. This is a shallot!. Peel them and dice them!. That's the part you use!.

You bought scallions, not shallots!.

You can likely still use them, the white part has a stronger flavor than the green part, but it is all edible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The white part is the onion!. You can use part of the green as well but make certain you wash it well!. (including inside the stems)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mostly the white part, but depending on the recipe that you use, it may call for some or all of the green part tooWww@FoodAQ@Com

you use the white part and a little of the green part is okWww@FoodAQ@Com
