Stocking up definitely helps but you might have to run to the store for one or two things usually!.

Things to always have:

Pasta
Beans, all kinds -- dark red kidney, black, chic peas, canellini
Chicken Stock
Tomato Sauce
Canned Tomatoes
Rice

Garlic - cloves and chopped
Onions
Tomatoes
Lettuce

Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Milk or heavy cream (for sauces)

Flour
Cornstarch
Olive oil
Canola Oil
Butter

Seasonings:
Salt, pepper, garlic salt, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, dried basil, oregano, parsley, thyme, grill seasoning, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper and the list goes on, but those are basics

Chicken Breasts
more Chicken Breasts
Ground Turkey
Ground beef, if you want

And make an indoor herb garden with Fresh Basil, Mint, and chives

Rice
Pasta
Lipton dried onion soup mix
cans of cream of mushroom soup
bread crumbs
garlic salt
Jar of italian spice
tomato sauce
jar spaghetti sauce
shredded cheese (jack or cheddar)
Parmesan cheese

I try to stock up on basics when they are on sale!. I always keep at least 4 of everything in my pantry at all times!. I also try to pick meals that use some of the same ingredients!.
