I recently answered a question regarding how long it is safe to freeze various meats, which is below!. As far as preparing before, I would recommend freezing raw, and either thaw in the refrigerator a day or two, or defrost in the microwave (I personally do not do)!. Here is the freezing chart, and hope this helps ;)

So KookinJunkie- 1 to 2 months for any type of ham!? What happens if it's 2 months and one day!?

Bud I would say a few months max for any meat!. Make sure to cook your meats throughouly, depending on what it is (like chicken cooked all the way)!. I freeze meats I buy as well but they are usually gone within two weeks!. My suggestion, but enough meat to last for a few weeks then you don't have a slaughter house freezer full of meats!. But as much as you can consume in a decent amount of time so as not to create food waste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vacuum pack, it should be fine for awhile, even more a than month!.!.!.

But wait a sec, are you talking about cooked meat or raw!? if raw then it lasts long, if cooked, keep it in vacuum pack and it should last for more than a month or so!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It should last a long time if you vacuum pack it!. Just take out as much air as you can co it won't get freezer burnt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
