There are several rubs you can buy at your local grocery!. Our favorite sauce also comes in a rub so the taste is there when we prefer dry to wet!. Another suggestion is to inject the meat with a rub/butter to give the inside of the bird flavor without a lot of mess!. Play on what sounds good to you as far as the spices go!. Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I make a dry rub that has a great bbq flavor!. Combine the following:
brown sugar
kosher salt
smoked paprika
onion powder
garlic powder,
and chili powder!.
Mix them well, and rub onto your chicken!. Then bake in the oven, or throw onto a grill!. You get a nice bbq tasting chicken, without the sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you bake it cover and add some sauce, just enough to have it get into the meat, then in the last 40 mins, pour off some of the liquid and add more sauce and cook uncovered until it is sticking like you want it!. The only drawback is the pan will be sort of hard to clean, but let it soak over night then scrub and wash in the dishwasher!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I bake mine in the oven with bbq sauce!. After it is pretty much done I put it on the grill for about 5 min or so!. I have also baked the chicken and turned the oven off leaving the chicken to sit in the oven as it cools off!. This will help the sauce glaze a little!.
