Question: Favorite salad recipe!?
I'm just tired of the same old salads I make for lunch everyday:
Dark mixed greens with chopped apples and tomato

Ingredients:
4 to 5 slices - fresh juicy pineapple
1 - medium green capsicum
1 - medium red capsicum
1 - medium yellow capsicum
1 thick slice - purple cabbage
1 small bunch - even sized salad leaves
1 - medium onion
1 tsp - brown sesame seeds, lightly roasted
1 tsp - black sesame seeds
1 small flake - garlic, peeled, flattened
1 tbsp - paneer grated (or cheese)

For Dressing:
1 tbsp - olive oil
1 tsp - brown vinegar
1 tsp - lemon juice
1/4 tsp - or more red chilli flakes
1/2 tsp - coarsely crushed cumin seeds
1 tsp - mint leaves finely chopped or crushed
1 tbsp - coriander leaves finely chopped
1 tsp - sugar, powdered

Method:
Clean each salad leaf, trim midriff, place in icecold water!.
Chop cabbage, sprinkle a little salt, keep aside!.
Pierce green capsicum with a dinner fork!.
Hold over direct flame, rotating to char skin evenly!.
Put in a clean plastic bag, to loosen skin!.
Repeat for both the other capsicums, and onion!.
Put in same bag when done!.
Run down charred skin, holding briefly under water if nessecary!.
Remove excess seeds and cluster!.
Chop into 1/2” sized squares!.
Place a nonstick flatbottomed pan to heat!.
Drizzle a few drop oil and some grain sugar!.
Place pineapple slices over this!.
Allow to sizzle and soften, flip, repeat other side!.
Chop into squares and allow to cool!.
Take a large salad bowl, rub garlic flake along inside!.
Arrange salad leaves along sides of bowl to make a rim of frilly sides!.
Mix all dressing ingredients thoroughly in a bowl
Keep aside till required!.
Press out salty water from cabbage, keep aside!.
Mix pineapple, capsicums, onion, cabbage, sesame seeds in another bowl!.
Add one or two chopped salad leaves!.
Add dressing, toss well to blend flavours!.
Pour into seasoned bowl keeping salad leaves in place!.
Garnish with grated paneer!.
Refrigerate and serve or serve warm, as desired!.

Making time: 30 minutes

BROCCOLI SALAD
INGREDIENTS!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
4 cups broccoli florets
5 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup golden raisins
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup white sugar
6 tablespoons red wine vinegar
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, toss together broccoli, green onions, sunflower seeds, raisins!.
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar, and red wine vinegar!. Toss with vegetables to coat!. Cover, and chill until serving!.

SPINACH STRAWBERRY SALAD
INGREDIENTS!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon minced onion
10 ounces fresh spinach - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
1 quart strawberries - cleaned, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onion!. Cover, and chill for one hour!.
In a large bowl, combine the spinach, strawberries and almonds!. Pour dressing over salad, and toss!. Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before serving!.


PASTA SALAD
INGREDIENTS!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
1 (12 ounce) package penne pasta
1/4 cup olive oil
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup quartered cherry tomatoes
salt and pepper to taste
5 ounces mozzarella cheese, diced
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 ounces fresh basil
12 large black olives, halved
DIRECTIONS
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water as directed on package, until just tender!. Drain, and set aside!.
Heat olive oil in a small saucepan!. Add green onions and cook, stirring occasionally, 2 or 3 minutes!. Stir in garlic, and cook for 2 minutes!. Add pasta, tomatoes, salt, and pepper!. Cook over low heat to warm through!. Stir in mozzarella and Parmesan cheese!. Coarsely tear basil leaves in halves or thirds; add to pasta with olives, and serve immediately!.

FRUIT SALAD WITH POPPYSEED DRESSING
INGREDIENTS!.!.!.!.!.
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons diced onion
1 teaspoon Dijon-style prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1 head romaine lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
4 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup cashews
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1 apple - peeled, cored and diced
1 pears - peeled, cored and diced
DIRECTIONS
In a blender or food processor, combine sugar, lemon juice, onion, mustard and salt!. Process until well blended!. With machine still running add oil in a slow steady stream until mixture is thick and smooth!. Add poppy seeds and process just a few seconds more to mix!.
In a large serving bow combine the romaine lettuce, shredded Swiss cheese, cashews, dried cranberries, cubed apple and cubed pear!. Toss to mix then pour dressing over salad just before serving and toss to coat!.

Try some greens with avacado, cucumber, red/green/yellow/orange peppers, tomato, baby corns, toasted almonds, feta cheese and whatever dressing you like!.

You could also try a pasta salad with those ingredients (minus avacado) and pasta of your choice with salad dressing and some herbs and spices!.

Spaghetti salad, pasta salad, greek salad, tuna salad, and these recipes can be found on most recipes sites!. I cook for myself and find tons of things to make and if it is not a salad than many dishes I cook larger amounts and freeze it for when I do not want to clean a mess or just want something fast!. My favorite salad is a salad I made up, it is called "That One Salad" because people would ask for it and say "Will you please make that one salad, pleaseeeee!?"

Mixed Greens (mesculin, spinach, romaine, you choose!)
diced tomatoes
craisins
walnuts
crumbled bleu cheese (choose a decent one, soft if possible)

WHITE BALSAMIC vinegar and olive oil
(White Balsamic is usually near the other balsamic vinegars)

And you pile it all on top of a piece of pita bread that you toasted in the oven with a brush of olive oil and some garlic salt!. 375 for about 5 mins until crunchy!.

Mixed greens or Romaine, avocado, mango, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles, and pine nuts with a citrus vinaigrette dressing!. Bonefish makes this salad, its called the Florida Cobb!. It is soooo good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Broccoli Slaw

1 16 oz!. package broccoli slaw
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries (such as Craisins)
optional : red onion chopped
1/2 cup of Marzetti Coleslaw Dressing
