How do you cook filet mignon?!
Answers:
I'm going to answer based on a 6 oz!. filet, approximately 1 1/2 inches thick!. Get your skillet screaming hot (not non-stick; use cast iron or a stainless steel skillet with just a thin coating of oil)!. Season the filets with whatever you want (I use salt, pepper and garlic powder), then drop on the skillet for about four minutes!. Flip and cook another four minutes!. You'll get a nice medium rare steak!. Remove to a plate, cover with foil, and let sit for at least five minutes!. That five minutes is an excellent time to make a pan sauce, if you so choose!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Filet mignon is the eye of the tenderloin and can be cooked on the barbie, in a broiler under gas flame or electric heat, in a frying pan with butter and a dab of olive oil!. In any case when cooking do not OVERCOOK !! This is the tenderest of meat and should be savored in the rare, rare to medium or medium cooked state!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Heat enough olive oil to coat the bottom of a skillet!. Season steak with garlic, salt and pepper and pan sear on each side for 4 minutes each for a rare steak, 6 minutes on each side for medium, 8 minutes each side for well done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Room temp meat -> Brush with oil -> Season -> Place on hot grill or saute pan -> When 1st side is done, flip -> Reduce temp or put pan in oven to finish -> Remove from heat when thermometer reads 130 -> Rest under foil for 5 mins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
