Answers:
Lasagne with salad and garlic bread!. That's ever so easy to make (lots of recipes online, or even on most packs of dry lasagne sheets) and you can put it in the oven and forget it without having to run backwards and forwards to the kitchen all the time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One of my favourite budget meals is kedgeree!. It is dead easy to make, packs plenty of flavour and it's extremely filling!. Because of all the fish and vegetables, it’s also very good for you too!. Below is the recipe I use!. It serves 4 to 6, so you will need to cut the amounts in half!. Or make double and have the leftovers tomorrow!.

Serves: 4-6 Prep: 25 min
Cook: 20 min

Ingredients
450g smoked haddock fillet
85g Butter
1 tbsp sunflower oil, or vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
170g Basmati rice, rinsed
0!.5 tbsp curry paste, (mild)
140g frozen peas, thawed (or fresh in season)
3 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
2 tbsp Parsley, chopped
1 pinch salt and fresh ground black pepper

To serve:
6 lemon wedges, or lime wedges
1 jar mango chutney

Method
1!. Cover the haddock with boiling water and leave to stand for 5 minutes!. Drain, reserving the soaking liquid!.

2!. Measure the soaking liquid and add enough water to make it up to 400ml!. Skin and flake the haddock, removing any stray bones you come across, and set aside!.

3!. Melt 30g of the butter with the oil in a large saucepan!. Add the onion and cook gently until softened but not browned!.

4!. Add the rice and the curry paste and stir for 1-2 minutes!.

5!. Pour in the measured cooking liquid, bring up to the boil then reduce heat down to a bare simmer and cover tightly!.

6!. Leave to cook, without disturbing for 8 minutes, and then stir in the flaked haddock and the peas!.

7!. Cover again and simmer for a further 4-5 minutes, until the rice is quite tender and has absorbed virtually all the liquid!. If absolutely necessary, add a splash more hot water to prevent burning!.

8!. Draw the pan off the heat, dot the rice with remaining butter, and then cover and let it stand for 4 minutes or so!.

9!. Add the egg and parsley and stir in lightly with a fork, fluffing up the grains of rice!. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding salt only if needed!.

10!. Pile up in a mound on a serving dish and serve steaming hot with lemon or lime wedges and plenty of mango chutney!.

Spaghetti Casserole!
This is my favourite meal, and all you need is one large saucepan or wok!.!.!.
Fry an onion and some garlic!.
Add one tin of chopped tomatoes and about a pint of stock (chicken or veg)
Break up about a handful (depending on your appetite) of spaghetti into about 2 inch pieces and add to the pan!. Cover and simmer for about 5 mins!.!.!.then hear is the fun part!.!.!.
Add any veg or meats you have or you like!. I usually add a bell pepper, sweetcorn and some chopped up matersons sausage or salami but anything that you fancy really!
To flavour put in a generous amount of Worchester Sauce and some smoked paprika!.
Leave to simmer for another 10mins of whenever the spaghetti is cooked then serve!
To make it extra special you can transfer the casserole into an oven proof dish and put grated cheese and Parmesan cheese on top and bake under the grill until the cheese is golden!.
WOW i'm hungry now!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Basic, tasty, cheap, easy!.!.!. would have to involve meat and potatoes!

Dont u think!? So many yummy dishes use meat and potatoes, its easy, cheap, YUMMO and how more basic can u get!?!

~ Bangers and Mash is one!

Make mash ~ I dont like packet mixes, you can use that if you like but potatoes are cheap and its simple to make!. SImply peel and chop potatoes about 8 small or 4 big (besides it doesnt matter if there is too much) and pour boiled water from a kettle into the pot!. Add some salt and turn it up high!. Put the lid on so it cooks faster and then if u want the water to evaporate take the lid off!. Or just pour it out!. Add a dash of milk warmed in the microwave, butter, salt to taste!.

Fry the sausages in a pan with a bit of oil!.!. Slightly burnt is the best but if u dont burn them u'll get more juice for the gravy!

Gravy ~ remove the sausages and sprinkle in about 1/2 a tablespoon of plain flour, whisk around till golden brown, add salt and pepper, then add stock with water!.!.

Pour over bangers and mash and garnish with parsley!

~ Shepherds pie is another dish I love to make cos its SO easy!.!.
Fry up the mince meat (I use beef) with chopped onion, carrot, and some peas!. Pour into bottom of a casserole dish and add mash potatoe on top!. Bake in oven for 30 min with a sprinkle of cheese on top!.

Of course there's loads more like roasts, casseroles!.!. but mostly everyone loves mashed potatoe and meat so I dont think you'll go wrong with either of those dishes!

Serve with red wine and fresh bread mmmmmm

Good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is easy and good!. I'm having it tonight!

1 can french onion soup mixed w/1/2 soup can water
1 egg
1 T minced onion
1/3 C cracker or bread crumbs
1 T parsley
Mix meat and 1/4 C soup mixture with the rest of the ingredients!. Shape into meatballs and brown!. Pour rest of soup mixture over and simmer coverec for 20 minutes or so!.
Then, you can thicken the broth for gravy over mashed potatoes or cook noodles in the broth!. Serve with a vegetable or salad!.
Again, Easy, but good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

White Beans and Tomatoes -
You need: Crock-pot, Olive oil, onion, garlic, 3 6” stalks of fresh rosemary, large can of diced tomatoes, and 2 cans of white/northern beans!. Sauté chopped onions in olive oil in the crock-pot on the high setting for about 15 minutes!. Add chopped garlic and sauté for 5 more minutes!. Then add the rest of the ingredients and let it cook on low in the crock-pot for however long you want!. Nothing in this recipe needs cooking so its just a matter of the longer it cooks together the more flavor it will have!. I live in Northern California and rosemary is a ubiquitous landscaping plant here so I have an endless free supply!. I think it is prolific in other parts of the country too!. You might add a little cumin or Tabasco sauce too!. Serve with brown bread and a little parmesan cheese!.

Black Bean Salad – You need: 1 can black beans, 1 can corn or frozen corn, 1 lime, ~2T fresh chopped cilantro, a fresh veggie (I like green pepper or tomato or avocado if you want to splurge)!. Add all ingredients to a tuper-wear and juice the lime!. You might also add some chili powder or tobasco!. Let it marinate together for at least 30 minutes!. Eat with corn chips!.

Pasta – You need: whole wheat pasta, jar of marinara sauce (I like Classico’s selections), chopped frozen broccoli, parmesan cheese!. I like to mix all these ingredients together but you could eat broccoli as a side dish!.

Ramen Stir Fry – You need: 2 pack ramen noodles, green pepper, onion, 3 eggs, 2T roasted peanuts, stir-fry seasoning!. Soak the ramen noodles in warm water while you prep other ingredients!. Sauté onion and green pepper!. Add 3 eggs and scramble in the same pan as onion and green pepper but keeping the egg somewhat separate!. Add the noodles and seasoning!. I like to season with a sauce made from soy sauce, ginger, a little sesame oil, a little brown sugar, and quite a bit of lime juice!.

Burritos – You need: Green pepper, onion, can of black beans, tortilla’s, cheese and salsa!. Sauté green pepper and onion!. Add black beans and season with chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, and lime juice!. Serve on flour tortilla’s with cheese (I think grating is worth it) and salsa!.

Fried Rice – You need: Rice, frozen peas, 2 eggs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger!. I like to make rice ahead of time on the weekend and eat it several times!. I usually cook rice in chicken bouillon for flavor!. So sauté onion and add frozen peas to defrost!. Scramble eggs in same pan!. Add rice, ginger, and garlic!. Add soy sauce and some sesame oil to taste!.

Curry Mushroom “Chicken” - You need: Cooked chicken breast or fake chicken (I like Quorn), frozen chopped broccoli, cream of mushroom soup, lemon juice, curry powder, shredded cheddar cheese!. Defrost frozen items in microwave!. Add a scoop of mushroom soup, ? T of curry powder, some lemon juice and shredded cheddar to the bowl and microwave again!. You could eat with brown rice!.

Baked potato – Baked potatoes are great because you can put so many things on top of them!. Some of the thing I like to put on are Morningstar crumbles (fake hamburger meat), sautéed mushrooms (season with Worcestershire), broccoli, salsa, shredded cheese, or black beans!.

Salmon Cakes – You need: 1 can pink salmon, 1 can white/northern beans, lemon juice, dill or thyme, minced garlic, 1 egg!. Mix all ingredients together mashing beans and salmon!. Make into patties and fry in olive oil!. Serve on brown bread and add a dollop of plain yogurt or sour cream if you like!.

Hot dogs – Depending on whether cheap or healthy is more important to me at the time, I will buy veggie hot dogs (healthy) or turkey hot dogs (cheap)!. We like eating them on whole wheat sandwich bread with sauerkraut and mustard!. We usually have a can of baked beans on the side!.

Heuvos Rancheros – You need: 4 eggs, flour tortillas, black beans, salsa, and shredded cheese!. Scramble eggs!. Warm tortillas in the microwave!. Warm black beans sprinkled with lime juice, chili powder, and garlic powder in the microwave!. Top tortillas with beans, egg, shredded cheese, and salsa!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
