Fried dough - how do I do that?!
I was in the USA about 2 years ago, and I went to the Big E in MA, which to someone who has never been to one before, was fantastic, a fun fair, concert, shop stalls and animals, brilliant day out, I had fried dough for the first time and loved it, but surely its not as simple as rolling some dough into an odd shape or large shape pizza and then just fried with a tomato sauce type topping, it was wonderful, in fact, just thinking about it makes my mouth water, what kind of oil should I cook it in, I generally use corn oil, would that be ok!.!.!.!.and if anyone knows about the whole big onions, that get battered and fried, please let me know how to do that too!.!.!.coz Im honestly feeling like booking a ticket to visit another Big E just to pig out!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The first one sounds like Indian Fry Bread!. If it was not Indian Fry Bread, it could have been Bannock (Google that) but I would think the Indian Fry bread is the more likely guess!.
The second is an onion blossom or flower!.
Here is a site with several different Indian tribe breads!.

I was given some premade Sioux Fry Bread Mix made by Lisa Little Chief Specialty Foods Spearfish, South Dakota!. (Maybe on the web to order it) This one will knock your socks off it is so good!.
For the onion blossom you is often made with a special tool and it is a bit involved to make one!. The tools used in a restaurants are quite spendy but cheaper than a ticket! However there is one that I know that can be made for home use!. Search Google or eBay for The Great American Steak House Onion Machine!.
The onion blossom is deep fried however here is a recipe if you want to try making it by hand and it is an oven version!. Not that difficult but a bit involved!. Use any sweet onion!.
Walla Walla Sweet Onion Flower
Ingredients
2 Walla Walla Sweet Onions
1/2 cup Flour
1/2 tsp Oregano
1/4 ts Paprika
1/2 tsp Dry mustard
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Non stick vegetable cooking spray
Instructions
The "petals" of the onion are simply torn off and dipped in zesty barbecue sauce!.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees!.
Lightly grease a large baking or roasting pan!.
Peel the Walla Walla Sweet Onions,
Cut the bottom level, but leave the core intact!.
To make the flower design, begin as if you are going to cut the onion in half, from top to bottom, but stop cutting 1/2 inch from the core!. Cut the onion this way 5 times to form ten sections or "petals!."
Carefully loosen the petals slightly by rapping the onion lightly on the work surface, and loosening them with your fingers!.
Remember that the flower will bloom more as it cooks!.
Place the flour, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika and mustard in a small paper bag!.
Spray the onions with cooking spray to lightly coat each petal!.
Put one of the onions in the bag and gently shake to coat!.
Remove the onion and pat off the excess flour mixture!.
Place in a prepared pan and repeat with the other onion!.
Spray the coated onions lightly again with cooking spray to aid in browning!.
Bake the onions in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until tender!.
Serve the onion flowers hot, with your favorite barbecue sauce as a dip!.
