Question: Anyone have a good waffle batter recipe for traditional wrought iron waffle makers!?
Again - NOT belgian waffles, but the kind made on a traditional Griswold No!. 9 Wrought Iron Waffle Iron!.

I finally found my mother's, but we ccouldn'tfind the cookbook she made her waffle batter from!. Www@FoodAQ@Com


Answers:
Aunt May's very light waffles

2 1/2 c!. water or soy milk
2 c!. regular oats
2 Tbs!. sesame seeds
2 Tbs!. whole grain flour
2 tsp!. liquid or granular lecithin
3/4 tsp!. salt
2 tsp!. vanilla, maple or lemon extract
2 Tbs!. honey or 3 Tbs!. apple juice concentrate or 1/4 c!. raisins or dates

Blend all ingredients until creamy!. Pour batter into bowl!. Prepare waffle iron by brushing lightly with lecithin-oil mixture !. Close lid and preheat on high 5-8 minutes!. When waffle iron is hot, sprinkle sesame seeds on bottom for easy removal and enhanced flaor!. Pour 1 and 3/4 c!. batter over seeds and sprinkle more seeds on top of batter!. Close lid and bake 10-12 minutes !. Cool waffle!. Before freezing or stacking place saran wrap or waxed paper between waffle!.

Yummy Waffles!. Topped with Maple-Blueberry Sauce and a little whipped topping these are good enough to be dessert as well as breakfast!

Belgian Waffle Batter Ingredients
2 1/2 cups All purpose flour sifted 3 large Eggs
4 tablespoon Sugar 2 cups Milk 2%
2 teaspoon Baking powder 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions for Belgian Waffle Batter
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt!.

In a bowl, beat the egg yolks, add milk and vegetable oil, mix and then add the sifted dry ingredients!.

In a small bowl, beat the egg whites to a thick foam and add them gently to your preparation!. Your batter is ready!. Cook your waffles following the instructions of your waffle maker!.

Serve waffles hot, immediately after cooking with butter, syrup, honey or jam, top with fresh fruits or try with Maple Blueberry sauce!. YUMMY!.

They're cast iron, not wrought iron!.!.and any and all batter recipes should work just fine!. You will want to wash the iron well and dry it thoroughly, and then re-season it before you use it!. Oil it well before each use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
