Answers:
im a baker and have worked as a cake decorator here in new zealand, use any colour icing you wish just add a little colour at a time so you don't over do it!. Butter cream/ frosting just use double the amount icing sugar or comfectioners sugar to the amount of soft not melted butter eg 100g butter 200g icing sugar and whip in a mixer until light in colour and fluffy, then add your choosen colouring!.
I hope this helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Quick 'n' Easy Frosting
Put one cup of powdered sugar in a medium bowl!.
Add 1-3 tablespoons of milk!. [You can use any kind you have on hand!.]
Stir with a spoon!.
Make sure it is not too runny or too thick!. If it is too thick, add a splash of milk!. If it is too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar!.
Add lemon juice or vanilla extract for flavor, if wanted (optional)!.
Spread the frosting on the cake!. Let the cake cool thoroughly first!.

Lemon/Vanilla Frosting
Put one box of powdered sugar in a medium bowl!.
Add 1/2 cup butter, shortening, or margarine [depending on your preference]!.
Mix with salt and water and apple juice or grape juice with an electric or hand held mixer
Add 1 tsp lemon juice for lemon frosting or 1 tsp vanilla for vanilla frosting!.
Spread on your favorite cupcakes or cake and enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beat one cube of butter then add the powdered sugar until you can't beat any more in!. Add a drop or two of hot water and beat more sugar in!. Add two drops of yellow food coloring, then beat, and more sugar until you can't add any more!. This is usually enough to frost a 13x9" cake!. If you are making a layer cake, make twice as much !.!.!. You are probably adding way too much food coloring, which changes the thickness, and not adding enough sugar to make up for it!. You must work quickly, though, to get it right !.!.!. don't stop in the middle to watch something on TV because the icing will 'set up' and will be harder to work with when you come back!. On banana cakes, or breads, I always use a confectioner's icing!. Use powered sugar, a little milk, very little, and a little bit of vanilla extract!. I also add a few grains of salt to keep it from being flat tasting!. That way with an icing you can drizzle just a little bit on it and not too much!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

put 1/2 cup butter and 3 cups powdered sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with an electic mixer until well combined!. slowly add 1-2 tablespoons of milk while still beating until the icing is a good spreading consistancy!. add the food coloring last and beat until well mixedWww@FoodAQ@Com
