There aren't any fresh cranberries, can I use canned?!
I called the stores around here in upstate N!.Y!. and they've told me that they only get fresh cranberries two weeks before thanksgiving!. They also don't have any frozen cranberries!. For this pie recipe it suggests I use fresh ones, but I was wondering if it would make a big difference if I used canned!. The cranberries are NOT the major part of the pie!.

If you are making a pie that it gelatin and/or cream cheese based then the canned cranberries will be fine!.
If you are making an apple/cranberry pie then I'd use the dried cranberries!. If they aren't soft, then nuke them about a minute before adding them you your apples!. But, this pie won't be as flavorful one made with fresh or frozen cranberries!.

Canned cranberries are cooked and sweetened!. I would substitute dried cranberries instead!. They are also sweetened, but you wouldn't have to contend with any extra moisture!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes it will be fine to used canned!. Sometimes the canned cranberries are sweeter because they are fully ripe and have added sweeteners!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
