How to make grilled onions like at In-N-Out?!

Question: How to make grilled onions like at In-N-Out!?
Tonight is burger night, and I'm craving some grilled onions like they serve at In-N-Out!. I've found several grilled onion recipes on Allrecipes!.com!. Most involve topping a whole onion with bouillon and butter, wrapping it with foil, and grilling for an hour!. Do you think this will give me the results I'm craving!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, definitely not!. Dice the onions and pan fry with a little canola oil!. season with a pinch of salt and pepper!. In-N-Out does this on a 500 degree grill for about 5 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I doubt it!. Supposedly, In N Out just tosses their chopped onions on the lightly greased grill, and cooks them until they are golden!. The sugar in the onion caramelizes during cooking!. I have also heard that they add a bit of water and brown sugar to them as they cook!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would just slice them and saute them in a little butter til they caramelize, then add a touch of bouillon mixed with water or red wine!. Let that reduce for a minute or two!. This is how I make my turkey burgers!. This technique works great with mushrooms too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
