For the bakers out there: What is your favorite sugar cookie recipe (for cut cookies)?!
The one in my cookbook is not so great!. The dough does not hold its shape and the cookies don't taste good!
Google has thousands that all claim to be "the best" but I don't want to try them all!
I am looking for one that tastes good, and does not rise too much (to the point that a star looks like a blob >!.<)!. also keep in mind that I am not really a beginner, so it does not have to be something simple; Please post even if you think it is too complicated!
I know it will all be a matter of personal taste, but if you think it is good, then I will probably think it is good!.
Thank You!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use a shortbread recipe for my cutout cookies!. They don't rise too much, they are delicate and yummy, and EASY!.
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1 t!. flavor of your choice, vanilla, lemon, almond, etc!.
Cream the butter, add sugar, mix well!. Gradually add flour, finally add flavoring!. Shape into a roll, wrap in plastic wrap, chill for at least 2 hours!. These cookies can be sliced from the roll, or rolled out and cut into shapes!. Bake at 300 degrees for 18 to 20 or until lightly browned on the edges!.
These cookies can be iced and decorated, dipped in melted chocolate, or left plain -- my favorite way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My favorite since I have been a kid and that has been a long while is Shortbread!. I do not use a recipe either but sure you can search for one or just toss it together as I do!. I watched my dad for many years make it!. It is just REAL butter, flour and powered sugar!. You must knead it well and pat it in a pan and bake it in a slow over until it just started to get a tan color!. It is to good! Www@FoodAQ@Com
