I need help with rice?!
Whenever I cook rice, it comes out too wet!. What am I doing wrong!? I use the advised amount of water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
That always happens to me!. Omit 1/2 cup of water for every 2 cups of rice and it is perfect!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
The ratio for cooking rice is two to one, so two cups of water for every one cup of rice!. Once you have the water boiling, add the rice, stir and then lower the heat and don't touch it for about 30 minutes!.!.!. You need to let the rice absorb the water and touching doesn't let it absorb as much as possible!.
Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just boil it in more water than you need, as soon as its cooked (keep testing a bit) when it has no hard bit in the middle any more, drain it in a colander, put it back in the rice pan (heavy metal one with an all metal lid) then put it in the oven on gas mark 6 for a while, about 10 20 mins, get it out then fluff it up after about 10 mins!. It sounds a carry on but its not really!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
For regular raw rice use 1 c!. rice to 2 c!. water!. Bring the rice to a boil, lower the heat, cover and cook on medium low heat until the water is absorbed, about 15 to 20 minutes!. Don't stir it or mess it about, just keep the lid on!.
But the best thing you can do is invest in a rice cooker!. They are not expensive (less than $30) and the rice comes out perfect every time!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do mine similar to another answer!. But I don't rinse mine first!. I just pour the rice in a pan, hold my finger to the top of the rice!. Add water until it is 1 and 1/2 kunckles high on my pointer finger!. Place on stove with good fitting lid, bring to a boil!. As soon as it starts to boil reduce heat to medium low and simmer until it is cooked thru!. Checking on it as little as possible is the key!.

If you used the advised amounts of water and rice, then you must have turned the stove down too low when simmering!. For 1 cup of raw rice, use two cups of boiling salted water, with a tablespoon of butter or oil added!. Add rice to RAPIDLY boiling water, stir, cover tightly and simmer on med!. low for 20 minutes!. Let rice sit for 5 minutes before removing lid and fluffing it up with a fork!.

It could have something to do with the altitude or humidity in the air!. If it does this every time you cook it then from now on reduce it by about 1/4!. If that is to dry then the next time use 1/8 than the package calls for!. You are letting it come to a boil then reducing to med low and using a very tight lid aren't you!? The finger method of measuring the water is what I use!.!. After you rinse the rice, make it level, stick your finger to touch the bottom of a good heavy pot and mark where the rice hits you knuckle area!. Then Put the tip of your finger on top of the rice and make the water level with the mark on your finger!. That should be double the water!. Don't go over the mark, a hair less wouldn't hurt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
