If you done use the mushrooms immediately, they sometimes do go to waste - as we dint really know how long they sat at the store or in the trucks before they got to the market - I only buy the mushrooms if I know that I will be using them within a day!.!.!.That said - remove the plastic bags you brought them home in and store them in your crisper drawers in the fridge - this seems to work for me - as a rule - never put tomatoes in the fridge, they break down and become mushy!. also wash any produce that you bought, before you put it away!. I find it a lot easier this way -
also I see someone mentioned the green bags for produce - I havent experienced a funny taste and it does work, but they arent miracle bags, you still have to use the produce within a week or so!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are some bags out there that are good to keep veggies fresh!. However making sure they are in the crisper and unfortunately some veggies should not be around each other!. They cause it to go bad quicker than others!. Mushrooms in a ziplock bag is not good!. The moisture in the bag will cause them to get slimy quicker than normal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i hated those green bags!.!.made my produce taste funny!. Don't plastic wrap anything!. it causes condensation!. I leave mine exposed in the drawer or wrap in paper towels, to absorb moisture!. I buy mushrooms, celery, lettuce, tomato, grapes, cherries, blueberries, apples weekly and they always last me a week without going bad!. I also find leaving the items exposed attracts the rest of the family easier!.!.!.they eat what they see!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I have the best luck buying mushrooms that are sealed and already packaged from the store!. For celery, wrap in aluminum foil and it will keep green for 3 weeks! For parsley keep it in a cup of water and on the top shelf!. For lettuce & green beans keep wraped in bags and try to keep out air!. NEVER put tomatoes in the fridge!. They lose all their flavor!.Carrots keep wrapped with no air!.Same with bell peppers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Mushrooms should be used within a couple of days of purchase!. That way they maintain their quality and flavour!. If you know that you are not going to be using the mushrooms for a few days, make sure to store them in a brown paper bag in the fridge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
