Question: How can I spruce up a plain chocolate cake!?
I'm making a chocolate cake from a mix for a thank you present, and I wanted to know!.!.!.how can I spruce it up!? What can I add to it to make it special!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Frost the entire cake with one color frosting (say chocolate)!.!. Smooth the frosting out by heating your spatula under hot water, dry it and smooth over!. Repeat till all smooth!. Then take a contrasting color frosting,( say white) put into a little plastic bag and cut the tip of the corner off!. Now you can pipe a design of your choice all over the cake or along the sides!. I tried this last week recipe came from a Mr Food cookbook I saw!. Mix the cake mix with any fruit pie filling add four eggs and bake as box directs!. These are the only 3 ingredients!. I used devil food chocolate with a can a cherry pie filling!. Cook until knife inserted down center comes out clean!. The topping is 1 pint sour cream and 1 box vanilla pudding mix!. mix together and use for the topping!. Very easy and the cake comes out moist and yummy!. You can make this recipe with any flavor cake mix and any kind of pie filling!. Use your own imagination!. for a different type of taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try adding about 1-2 tsp of espresso powder or instant coffee!. Coffee always accentuates the flavor of chocolate

also, chocolate and orange pair well together!. Grate in some orange zest or about a tsp of orange extract into the batter!. Organize a few candied orange rind strips on top for decoration!Www@FoodAQ@Com

When it's done, take it out of the oven and top with miniature marshmallows, nuts and chocolate chips!. Return to oven until marshmallows are light brown!. Instant rocky road cake!. this will sound funny what i do for icing is buy pirouette cookies (choc flavor) get cool whip or whip cream take the cookies crush them up fine then mix in cool whip or whip cream in a bowl put in Freezer for few minutes to slight freeze ( this make it easier to use) then use as a icingWww@FoodAQ@Com

Adding a little lemon juice in the batter always makes a bit of a difference!. It makes the cake itself stay a little more moist through baking, and it intensifies the taste of the chocolate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put some other flavoring in the batter that will complement chocolate!.!.!.like cherry or strawberry!. Or just make a plain chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and put fresh whole strawberries on top!. YUMWww@FoodAQ@Com

You could put Nutella as the frosting then add chopped toasted hazel nuts and mini chocolate chip and bake until the chocolate chips get nice and melted!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
