i cant find a recipe for cherry apple pie!. i have alot of apples and cherrys so were did all the recipes go!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

1 cup cherries
5cups thinly sliced apples
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

DIRECTIONS:

Combine cherries and apple slices in a large bowl!. Stir together sugar, flour, and cinnamon; mix well with fruit!. Let stand 15 minutes!.
Spread fruit mixture into pastry lined 9 inch pie pan!. Dot with butter or margarine!. Cover with top crust!. Seal and flute the edges!. Cut slits in the crust to allow steam to escape!.

Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 40 to 50 minutes, or until edge is golden brown and apples are tender!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

* 12 ounces fresh or frozen pitted cherries, rinsed well
* 2/3 cup roughly chopped walnuts
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
* 1 1/2 teaspoons grated orange zest
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
* 1 tablespoon cornstarch
* 1 cup rolled oats
* 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
* 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
* 1 unbaked pie crust, for a 9 or 10-inch deep dish baking pan
* Vanilla ice cream, as accompaniment

Directions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F!.

In a large bowl, combine the apples, cherries, walnuts, granulated sugar, orange juice, orange zest, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg and cornstarch and toss well to combine!.

In a separate bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, remaining 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, and remaining 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg!. Blend the butter into the dry ingredients using your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs!.

Line a 9 or 10-inch deep baking dish with pie crust and pour in the fruit mixture!. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the top and bake for 20 minutes!. Lower the temperature to 350 degrees F and continue baking until bubbly, apples are tender, the top is golden brown, and the pie crust is browned, 35 to 40 minutes longer!. 1/2teaspoon salt
3tablespoons margarine or butter
3tablespoons shortening
1tablespoon cider vinegar
5to 6 tablespoons ice water
1/2cup dried cherries
1/4cup apple juice
1tablespoon cornstarch
2teaspoons ground cinnamon
6cups thinly sliced peeled red baking apples, preferably Jonagold or Golden Delicious
1teaspoon vanilla
1egg white, well beaten
1teaspoon sugar
1/4teaspoon ground cinnamon


Preparation: 1!.Combine flour, 2 tablespoons sugar and salt in large bowl!. Cut in margarine and shortening with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs!. Add vinegar and 4 tablespoons water, stirring with fork!. Add additional ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms soft dough!. Divide dough into thirds!. Shape 1 piece into disk; wrap in plastic wrap!. Combine remaining 2 pieces dough, forming larger disk; wrap in plastic wrap!. Refrigerate 30 minutes!.
2!.Preheat oven to 375°F!. In small microwavable bowl, combine cherries and apple juice; microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 minutes!. Let stand 15 minutes to plump cherries!. In large bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon; mix well!. Stir in apples and vanilla!.
3!.Coat 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray!. Roll larger disc of dough to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured surface!. Cut into 12-inch circle!. Transfer pastry to prepared pie plate!. Spoon apple mixture into pastry!. Roll smaller disc of dough to 1/8-inch thickness!. Cut dough into 1/2-inch-strips!. Place strips over filling and weave into lattice design!. Trim ends of lattice strips; fold edge of lower crust over ends of lattice strips!. Seal and flute edge!.
4!.For glaze, brush pastry with egg white; sprinkle with combined sugar and cinnamon, if desired!. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown!. Cool 30 minutes!. Serve warm or at room temperature!.

Tip: If the pie crust is browning too quickly, cover the edges with strips of aluminum foil!. An alternative is to cut the bottom out of another foil pie pan and invert it over the pie!.

I always use flour sugar, and cinnamon with my apple pie!. And then I cook the cherries with some sugar, water and cornstarch!. Then just mix the 2 together!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
