Why, yes, yes you can add cheese!. It is a homey casserole thing!. Sort of comforting like tuna noodle casserole!. I make it once and awhile for my family!. It isn't a dish I would serve for company!. But for the family on an autumn evening when we plan to hang out and watch movies it is a nice dinner!. I don't know what Shepperd's pie is like!.

2 lbs!. ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 bag tater tots
1 bag shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
Brown and season ground beef!. In 9x13-inch casserole dish, layer tater tots ground beef then spread the soups over ground beef and top with mozzarella cheese!. Bake in 425 degree F oven for at 30-40 minutes or until hot and bubbly!. Let sit 5 minutes before serving!.
Variations: Use ground turkey instead of ground beef; use different cream soups and cheddar cheese soup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tater Tot casserole is really good!. It is also cheap too to make!. You can either have one for breakfast with sausage or dinner with hamburger (mince) Here is a recipe for BOTH of them!!! ENJOY!!!




Tater Tot Casserole -- NO MEAT



INGREDIENTS
2 pounds tater tots, thawed
1 (10!.5 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 dash garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 cups cornflakes cereal
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
paprika to taste



DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish!.
In a large mixing bowl combine tater tots, soup, onion, sour cream, cheese, garlic powder, seasoning salt and softened butter; mix well!. Transfer to casserole dish!. In a medium bowl combine cereal and melted butter; spread over casserole!. Sprinkle the top with parmesan cheese (use more or less according to your taste) and paprika!.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until browned!. (Note: It's a good idea to put a cookie sheet under the casserole dish, in case it bubbles over while cooking!.)

Tater Tot Casserole -- BREAKFAST



INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground pork breakfast sausage
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 pounds tater tots



DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!.
Place sausage in a large, deep skillet!. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown!. Drain, and spread evenly in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan!. Spread cheese over sausage!.
In large bowl, beat together milk and eggs!. Pour over cheese!. (May be refrigerated overnight at this point)!.Top with tater tots!.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes!. Cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving!.

Savory Tater Tot Casserole --



INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
4 cups frozen mixed vegetables
1 (19 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 (32 ounce) package frozen potato rounds



DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)!. Spray 9x13 glass baking dish with cooking spray!.
Cook hamburger in skillet and drain!. Spread hamburger into bottom of pan, covering entire bottom, gently tamping beef down!. Sprinkle with diced onions!. Layer frozen veggies as next layer!. Cover with the soup, straight from the can, carefully spreading with spatula to cover entirely!.
Layer tater tots on top, covering entire top with tots!. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees) for 1 hour, or until hamburger is done!. Check after 30 minutes; if tots are getting too brown, turn down to 350 degrees F (190 degrees C)!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are many versions!. The one I grew up with was just raw hamburger put int he bottom of a cake pan, them my mom put a drained can of mixed veggies on it, then the tots and covered it with a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup!. Bake until done--Probably about 45 minutes at 350

The only thing I liked about it was I could scrape off the stuff on top and just eat the cooked hamburger, put some of the tots did crisp up on top and I ate those too!.

I don't think I have every made this and I've been married for 25 years! LOL My mom made it too darn often

Helk, you can add cheese to anything!. I see recipes that call for the burger to be cooked first but this isn't how my mom ever made it, it was raw when assembling the casserole!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
