Answers:
I shop at Walmart as well!. Never poor as long as you have hope!. My hubby says that if I ever won the lottery I would give it away!. Nother story!
Anyway, pork and saurkraut!.!.!.!.!.
Start off with something simple!.!.!.!.
BRATWURST AND KRAUT
In large skillet that you have lid for-
Brown small chopped onion in a little oil!. Add the brats (about 1 lb)and brown both sides!. Add a can of kraut and a beer!. Stir, cover, turn down to simmer and let simmer 45 min to an hour, stirring occasionally!.
Serve brats on hotdog buns with some of the kraut!. My hubby also likes mustard with his!.
Absolutely yummy and even better reheated the next day!.
(also good with hot dogs!)

For PORK & KRAUT, (best if you have a crockpot!.)
Brown the pork on all sides in a skillet in a little oil!. Transfer to the crockpot!. Add a can of kraut, a can of water (or beer)!. Cook 1 hr on high, reduce heat to low!. Cook on low about 4-5 hours or until tender!. Really great!
Serve with boiled or steamed potatoes!. I like rye bread with this as well!.
To make this even easier, the night before--follow instructions up to where you put into crockpot then put crockpot into fridge!. First thing next morning, take crockpot out of fridge, turn on high for an hour while you get dressed for work!. Then turn down to low and let cook about 8 hours!.
This is best with the least expensive pork roast you can buy!. Not need to get the expensive kind!.

Invest in a crockpot recipe book, one that has recipes using very few ingredients!.
Another great (and cheap) meal

CROCK POT CHUCK ROAST
3-4 lb beef chuck roast (cheapest kind)
Put in crockpot, no water
Sprinkle on 1 pkg dry brown gravy mix and 1 pkg dry Italian dressing mix!.
Do not stir or add water!.
Cover, cook on high for 1 hour!. Turn down to low and let cook 6-8 hours until really tender!.
Shred meat!.
Put on hotdog buns or soft rolls with mayo!. I like to also add chopped mild chilis!.
This is easy, cheap, great for company and makes great leftovers!

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pork Choucroute is a great dish!. Here is information about it and everything you need to know!

Choucroute garni is French for "garnished sauerkraut!." This dish is just that, with hearty pork tenderloin, bacon, and turkey sausage!. Use a good dark beer (such as stout) for extra flavor!.

Yield
8 servings (serving size: 1 pork slice, 1 sausage piece, and about 1/2 cup sauerkraut mixture!.)

Ingredients
5 cups sliced Braeburn apple
6 whole black peppercorns
6 juniper berries, lightly crushed
2 bacon slices, chopped
1 (32-ounce) jar sauerkraut, rinsed and drained

1 (12-ounce) bottle dark beer
1 pound pork tenderloin, trimmed
Cooking spray
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Preparation

Combine first 7 ingredients in a Dutch oven; bring to a boil!. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes!. Remove from heat, and keep warm!.

While sauerkraut mixture is cooking, cut pork crosswise into 8 equal slices!. Place each slice between 2 sheets of heavy-duty plastic wrap; flatten each piece to 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin!. Lightly coat both sides of pork slices with cooking spray, and sprinkle both sides of pork with salt and pepper!.

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat!. Add half of pork slices; sauté 2 minutes on each side or until pork loses its pink color!. Remove from heat, and keep warm!. Repeat procedure with remaining pork slices!. Serve pork with sauerkraut mixture!.
