To make your own onion soup mix:
A 1 3/8 ounce package = 1/4 C instant minced onion + 2 tablespoons bouillon + 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use a real onion or use one tsp granulated onion powder
My recipe follows
4 large potatoes
2 carrots
2 Tablespoons oil
2Tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
sprinkle of paprika
1/2 cup milk (for cooking)
4 cups water or add 1 tsp chicken powdered soup base to water and eliminate other seasonings(salt, paprika)
1 small onion
1 celery stalk
Preparation:
1!. Peel and cube potatoes!. Peel and thinly slice carrots, celery!. and onions!.
2!. Heat oil in soup pot!. Saute potatoes in oil for 5 minutes!.
3!. Stir in carrots!. Stir in flour, salt and paprika water, onion and celery!.

Canned onion soup or those dry packets!?

I'd say to add chicken broth or bouillon, dried minced onion (or sauteed onions) dried chives, white pepper, dried parsley, dill weed, thyme and a dash of paprika!.
