yes!. any solid fat will do, such as butter, margarine, lard, or drippings, (bacon grease is especially good with dried onions)!. or you really don't need to use a fat (not oil unless called for!. they are not the same), unless your recipe specifically calls for it!. the fat is in there to produce a more tender, longer lasting bread!. a basic recipe is warm water, flour, yeast and a small amount of salt and sugar!. any goodies can be added during the kneading!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
