Rather than making fondant, it might be worth just buying it!. Here is a source:
http://www!.pastrychef!.com/ROLLED-FONDANT!.!.!.

also, confectioner's chocolate, also known as "coating chocolate" is basically a chocolate product that has been altered to make it easier to work with!. The cocoa butter is removed and is replaced with another kind of fat, usually a vegetable based one!. The reason for this is that cocoa butter is a very sensitive food that needs special handling ("tempering") before it can be used for decorative purposes!. With confectioner's chocolate, you pretty much just melt it and then use it for whatever you are doing, and it will harden and be nice and shiny for you, no muss, no fuss!.

The little discs of chocolate you get in the candy-making sections of craft stores like Michael's are, I believe, coating chocolate!. Check the label and if it lists any kind of vegetable fat on the ingredients list, it is coating chocolate!.

also, fondant is available in small quantities in the baking section of many Michael's as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
