I need to make a soak and a cream for a sponge cake, any ideas?!

Question: I need to make a soak and a cream for a sponge cake, any ideas!?
I have made a basic sponge cake, and would like to soak it with something tasty, and then (or before) cut it into a few layers and have cream inbetween!.
Can anyone suggest any good recipes using mostly (maybe a few extra stuff to buy) ingredients that I have in my house now:

vanilla
strawberry and peach preserves
fresh strawberry
various wines
cinnamon
cognac
vodka
lemons
milk
lime
eggs
apples
kiwi
flour
baking powder
vegetable shortening
coffee powder
sugar, brown and white
water :)

Answers:
Get their attention with a lip smacker, if this is to wild then tame it by using Orange in place of lemon!.

For your soak the ratio is 8 to 1, confectioners sugar to lemon juice (2C sugar/ 1/4C lemon)!. Warm the lemon juice then stir in sugar till dissolved!.

Lemon Cream Topping
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon peel
3/4 cup water
3 egg yolks, beaten
1/4 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Ground cinnamon
Lemon peel twists, if desired
Prep:
Combine sugar, cornstarch and grated lemon peel in small saucepan!. Gradually stir in water!. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil (4 to 5 minutes)!. Boil for 1 minute!. Gradually stir half of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks with wire whisk!. Return all mixture to saucepan!. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches 160°F!. and is thickened (2 minutes)!. Whisk in lemon juice!. Cool slightly!. Cover surface with plastic food wrap!. Refrigerate until completely cooled (1 hour)!.

Beat whipping cream in small bowl at high speed until soft peaks form!. Fold into lemon mixture!.

For each serving, place 2 cake slices onto individual serving plate; spoon lemon topping over cake!. Lightly sprinkle with cinnamon!. Garnish with lemon twist, if desired!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
