Answers:
French vanilla is supposed to be made from a cooked thin custard containing cream, eggs (or egg yolks), cream/milk, and either vanilla extract or vanilla bean!. Most of the better ones are made using vanilla bean and may contain vanilla seeds!.

Vanilla bean ice cream isn't cooked beforehand and doesn't contain eggs, but does contain the bean and may have seeds in it!.

Plain vanilla ice cream isn't cooked beforehand and doesn't contain eggs, and is flavoured only with extract!. Depending on the exact wording on the label, it may only contain artificial vanilla and not the real stuff!.

Edit: I should add that there's no law stating that French vanilla has to contain eggs; it's just the custom, and the custom is dying in some areas!. Some cheaper manufacturers use the term "French Vanilla" as a marketing gimmick to make plain vanilla sound tastier and more expensive and to justify a higher price!. Some cheap brands contain artificial egg flavouring!Www@FoodAQ@Com

French Vanilla has eggs (Or at least Yolks) in it and has a richer taste than plain Vanilla!. Vanilla Bean should have tiny flecks of vanilla beans, but I don't think that it really affects the flavor, as compared to another Vanilla ice cream of comparable quality!.

Personally, I don't think that you can go wrong!. Enjoy the taste tests!Www@FoodAQ@Com
