Question: I have a recipe that calls for unsalted butter but all I have is salted!!!!?
Should I just omit the salt in the recipe!? also, what could I use to replace the egg (making it for someone who is allergic to eggs)!? Here are the ingredients in the recipe:

instant coffee, hot water, 4 oz (1 stick) unsalted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, salt (1/4 tsp), vanilla extract, 1 egg, flour, baking soda, cocoa, chocolate chunks, and pecans!.

Answers:
Yes, omitting the salt will be good!. I am guessing you don't want to run to the store to buy egg replacer, you can use applesauce, pureed banana, or blended silken tofu for the egg!. Use about 1/4 of a cup of the liquids!.

Hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Actually there's nothing wrong with omitting the salt from the recipe, baking soda is a salt(sodium bicarbonate) so you don't need the salt for it to work!. Recipe sounds yummy!!

Egg Replacement Options
1 egg = 2 Tbsp!. potato starch
or 1/4 cup mashed potatoes
or 2 Tbsp!. water + 1 Tbsp!. oil + 2 tsp!. baking powder
Egg Replacement Tips
If you need an egg re-placer that binds, try adding 2 to 3 Tbsp!. of any of the following for each egg: potato starch, arrowroot powder, whole wheat flour, mashed potatoes, instant potato flakes, or 1/4 cup tofu pureed with 1 Tbsp!. flour!.
Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chocolate coffee brownies!? Yummie!

Just don't add the salt and it will turn out fine!. You don't want to overdo salt as it is unhealthy!. Don't listen to people who say baking soda won't work without salt!. They don't know their basic chemistry!.

As for the egg the main purpose is as a binder!. Replace the egg with a couple of tablespoons of milk to keep up the moisture content!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The baking soda needs the salt to work properly!. Use the recommended measure!.
also, there are a lot of egg subsitutes at the store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The amount of salt in salted butter is small!. I would just ignore any difference between salted or unsalted butter, and proceed according to the recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well yes omit the salt and as for the eggs use Egg Beaters or something like that!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, leave the salt out since theres enough in the butter already!.
