It's easy! Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the pot, over medium heat!. When the oil begins to glisten and shimmer, add 1/3 cup popcorn to the pot!. Cover it right away!. Then listen!.!.!. in about 3 minutes you will hear the first "Pop!"!. After that everything stars to pop very fast!. Don't peek inside! You'll get hit with a flying kernel if you do! When it slows to two seconds between pops the corn is done!

If you have a stove top popper that is "just a pot" with a steam vent, leave it alone, but shake the pot every once in awhile!. If you have a "turning handle" crank it every 30-45 seconds to stir and toss the corn!.

As for seasoning!. Season after!. Not before!. The reason is salt toughens the popping corn!. also seasoning powders will scorch and toughen popping corn!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I haven't seen one of those!. I make popcorn on top of the stove by putting about a tablespoon of oil into a big, deep skillet with a lid (I call it my chicken fryer), turning on the heat (medium high), adding in perhaps a quarter cup of popcorn, putting on the lid, and waiting for the first "pop!." Then I periodically shake the pan (not up and down, but across the burner) until the popping stops!. Lovely popcorn!. Perhaps your popper works the same as the "old fashioned way!." Www@FoodAQ@Com

Kettle corn takes a little bit of practice and you have to tweak the recipe to your liking!.!.
I start with about 3 tablespoons of oil, but, frequently have to add a bit more to keep the sugar from burning!. I'll do about 3 tablespoons of canola oil and a couple tablespoons of butter for the flavor!. Slice the butter into the oil so that it melts fast enough where it's not burning instead of just dropping a chunk of butter in!. I start the oil on low until the butter is melted with the rest of the oil!. Then, I mix in a 1/4 cup of sugar!. I mix that with the oil, as soon as it's mixed, turn the heat up to about medium high and put about 1/2 cup of kernels in!. You have to keep turning the handle at this point of the sugar will end up burning!. You'll also have to experiment with the heat on your stove as there's a fine line between being hot enough for the kernels to pop and yet not burn the butter and sugar!.
Once the popping slows down, remove from heat immediately and shake into a bowl!. Then, salt lightly with popcorn salt!.!.
