Making meals then freezing them?!

Question: Making meals then freezing them!?
I am going away for a week and would like to make up some meals for my husband to save him from having to cook when he gets back from work!. What are some good meals that i prepare, freeze and all he needs to do is heat!?
For example can you cook things like potatoes and veg's or even meat and freeze them!? Will they taste nice reheated!?
Any ideas or sites i can look at!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are lots of meals that can be prepared with little time or effort, I'm sure a quick google search would find details - (my girlfriend's saying he should be cookng his own dinner!)

As for freezing, some tings never taste the same when reheated - but normally still ok to eat!. I find stews, broths and soups save the best (and also improve with keeping!) It's not worth doing something like (dry) meat and veg - it'll probably dry out in re-heating!. Think of meals with lots of sauce!.

Pasta and sauce is easily to cook(pre make the sauce with meat and veg [think spag bol] - though I'd advise cooking the pasta when it's going to be eaten!.

There are lots of meals that freeze well - unbaked lasagne, unbaked macaroni cheese, stews, soups, curries!. If you happen to have a glut of tomatoes, roast them and puree for a fabulous pasta sauce!.

You generally want to avoid potato as an ingredient, but for some reason when you add a lot of fat to something like mashed or twice baked potatoes, they freeze really well!.

If you google for OAMC (Once a month cooking) you will find lots of ideas and guidelines!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would save my money and time!. You can buy whole meals prepackaged in the grocery store for not that much money!. Pick up a couple of those, some canned chili, a frozen pizza, hot dogs and baked beans, sloppy joes, stuff like that!. You could make something and refrigerate it for the first day or two's "reheating" meals, but I wouldn't bother cooking and freezing anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The golden rule with meat is if its previously been frozen then don't refreeze it!.

Veg etc will freeze fine!. Just make curries chillies etc and freeze them, once reheated they are fine, I always make more when I cook and the reheat it and put it on a jacket potato!.

Don't go to too much trouble though as he will probably just go to the local takeawayWww@FoodAQ@Com

We cooked and froze meals for my Mother when she was bed bound!. All we did was cook extra when doing our own meals and then freeze down the meal on the plate!.
Used to go round in the morning and get one out of freezer for her evening meal!. We created a whole variety, great success!.

By the way Aldi do a small range of frozen meals!. The Roast Beef and also Lamb are very edible!. They are only £1!.59 each!

Tesco also do singles individual meals (can't remember price)!.

You can cook and freeze practically everything you like except that boiled potatoes** go very grainy and pieces of hard boiled egg go to leather! Apart from that I've never really had any problems, and I've been doing it for years!.
** Note - mashed potatoes freeze perfectlyWww@FoodAQ@Com

There are lots of things to make, just remember not to refreeze stuff!.

-soups (easy, tastes good after beeing frozen)
-lasagna
-enchiladas
-ravioli/pasta with sauce
-chili
