When making a pasta bake does the pasta need to be cooked first?!
I'm going to try making a little pasta bake tonight with chicken, tomato & herb sauce and broccoli!. Do I need to cook the pasta in a pan, as would be done normally, first!? also, can I put frozen broccoli florets in or would they need to be cooked!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had a pasta bake sauce and it said not to cook the pasta so I didn't and it wasn't very good!. I prefer the ones with the pasta cooked first and would never make a pasta bake with uncooked pasta again!. The broccoli would be fine frozen but I would part cook it first just for peace of mind!. Thing is, are you baking it all together or plating the pasta on the side of the chicken!?
You probably do not want overcooked or mushy pasta, so yes, cook your pasta part way through, (al dente), so it is still quite firm and after draining the pasta, you may add the herb sauce & broccoli!. This will help the broccoli to be just slightly cooked (in this case blanched) and the pasta will continue to cook/absorbing more moisture from the herb sauce!.

Cook the pasta first, ale denta!. I would thaw the broccoli and steam it just a little before adding to the dish!. Make sure you drain it well as it can retain to much water and make your dish very watery!. Drain on paper towels!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes and yes!. You need to cook the pasta until it is al dente ( when it starts to go soft but not totally soft!.
You need to cook the broccoli a little but not completely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
