A Microwave won't work very well!. It heats up the outside of the butter, melting it while the inside is still cool because of the insulating quality of the stick of butter!.

Time is the only thing that'll work without melting the butter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If I'm in a hurry like you, I will microwave a wrapped stick of butter on High for 11 seconds!. Any more, it starts to melt in the middle!. But it's usually soft enough to get beaten w/ an electric mixer w/ good results!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I actually put the stick of butter in the microwave on DEFROST only!. It doesn't melt it like regular heat in the microwave does, it just melts it nicely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put it in the microwave for a couple of seconds, just enough to soften it, not melt it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you better get some patience if you are going to have a child, cause you will need it!!!! lol

make the cookies later!.
