Do you have an apple crisp recipe that doesnt use oats?!


Question: Do you have an apple crisp recipe that doesnt use oats!?
I tried a recipe for peach crisp using oats and really didnt like them in it!. They were dry and didnt plump up at all and i guess thats why i didnt like them!. Anyone have any ideas or different recipes!? It would be greatly appreciated!. I just bought some apples today and I wanna make my crisp tomorrow!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's my grandmother's recipe that we all make!. It's delicious! In fact, I'm making it for a get-together this Saturday!.

APPLE CRISP

4 to 6 cups peeled sliced apples
1 tsp!. cinnamon – or more to taste
? tsp!. salt
? cup water or cider
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter (? cup)
? cup flour

Place apples in buttered (or sprayed) 8 or 9 inch square pan!. Sprinkle cinnamon and salt over them as you put them in the pan!. (I cut my apples directly into the pan!.) Pour water over the apple slices!.
Mix sugar, butter and flour until crumbly using pastry blender or 2 knives!. Sprinkle over apples!.
Bake at 350° until apples are done and top is brown about 45 minutes!. Serves 6 to 9!.

For variation, you can add about 1/2 cup raisins and/or chopped walnuts before putting the topping on!.

Apple Crisp
2 cups sliced apples
? cup orange juice
2 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Preheat oven to 400 degrees!. Prepare 1 quart casserole with non stick spray!.

Place apples into casserole dish!. Combine orange juice, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice!. Pour over apples and toss!. Combine graham cracker crumb with melted butter, sprinkle over apples!. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes!. Remove foil and bake additional 5 - 10 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I normally use about 3-4 FUJI apples as they are larger and I find it they are the best!. But if you want to use some other, like Red Delicious, use about 4-6 apples

Apple Crisp

INGREDIENTS
6 apple - peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup orange juice
1 (18!.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, melted

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish!.
Arrange apples in an even layer in bottom of baking dish!. Pour juice over apples!.
In a medium bowl mix together cake mix, brown sugar, and cinnamon!. Stir in melted butter or margarine until ingredients are thoroughly blended; mixture will be crumbly!. Sprinkle mixture over apples!.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes


OR

Apple Crisp

INGREDIENTS

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish!.
Place apples in prepared dish!. Sprinkle with cinnamon!. Pour juice over all!. In a bowl, cream together sugar and butter!. Blend in flour!. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples!.
Bake in preheated oven 30 to 40 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is golden!.

Apple Brown Betty is an old Southern favorite not to mention one of my dad's favorites when he was alive!.

Apple Brown Betty
3-4 c!. sliced apple
1 c!. brown sugar
3/4 c!. flour
1/3-1/2 c!. shortening
1 tsp!. cinnamon

Grease an 8 or 9 inch baking dish!. Put apples in dish!. Sprinkle with cinnamon!. Mix brown sugar and flour!. Cut in shortening and blend until mixture is crumbly!. Put sugar mixture over apples!. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes!. Let stand 10 minutes before serving!. May serve with dollop of ice cream or whip cream!.

There's a great one in Tassajara Cookbook that works well with peaches, too, or some mixture of fruit!. Sorry I'm not at home to look it up!. Your library might have that cookbook!. It's probably too late for this time, but you might want it for the future!.

By the way, I always add cardamon (spice) to my desserts!. It only takes about 1/4 teaspoon, & it's heavenly!. I buy it in bulk at the health food store, where we take our own containers & fill them!.

By the way, I think the versions of apple crisp with real butter & either brown sugar or sucanat or some mixture of the 2 are the best!. I'd go for whole wheat pastry flour, which is a finely ground flour!. Lemon squeezed over the apples & cinnamon sprinkled over that is good, too!.

All of the previous recipes sound delicious, I don't particularly like the oats either!.Please do not use apple cider vinegar, you can try orange juice if you want to add flavor, the vinegar would be awful!. Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
