OH my goodness, yes there is! A "roux" sauce (simmered, equal parts, butter and flour) can be made with almost any base, and so can a "slurry" (cold water and corn starch) using these flavored bases or bouillon cubes, such as chicken, beef, veal, turkey, clam, lobster, mushroom base !.!.!.!.!.!.!.well, you get my drift here!. Saute up you favorite veggies, proteins, seafood to almost done, then add in a tablespoon of butter, dredged with flour or corn starch, this will thicken you sauce of your dish without doing the traditional white or red sauce!. You could also do a fresh herb sauce, light tomato paste and red wine or a simple white/red wine, garlic, lemon,S&P, and fresh herb sauce!. Let this come to a slow rolling boil with your other ingredients and there it is! Remember to re-season after your Roux or Slurry, they can offset the seasonings by soaking them all in!. Hope this helps you out today!Www@FoodAQ@Com
