Great question!. It is hard to think of just now but I will get back to you on it!. I know what you mean about memorable!. Might be something like the pot roast of homekilled mutton me and my mum ate one night in the middle of winter( it was xmas xactually) and there was nobody in the house but us 2!. The taste was so sublime and we knwew it and we kept smiling at each other knowing what the others were missing out on!. They were partying!. It was the late middle of the night!. What was so good about that meal was not the taste but the closeness I felt to my mother!. I was probably twelve and never knew that one person could love you so much without saying a single word!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I went to a new curry house where I live ands had the most unusual curry that I've ever eaten!. I don;t know what was in it (apart from the vegetables) but it tasted on incense (in a good way)!. Normally there is a limited choice of vegetarian curries so it was great to have something that tasted so totally and utterly different!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Somewhere in the Southwest of France we visited an historic house rather rundown and a long way on tiny lanes from anywhere!. It was owned by a Michelin-star chef!. Our meal consisted of blackbirds that he had steamed slightly and removed all the bones except the legs!. Then he had stuffed the little bodies with pork, herbs and truffles, and roasted them It was served with a sauce made with blackcurrants!. Truly a masterpiece!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It was curried beef, served at a "Regimental Weekend" some years ago when at the interval of the dance on the Saturday evening, they actually came up with a tun bathful of the stuff at the buffet - and take my word for it, it was made by soldier-cooks/chefs who had been instructed how to make it by the Officers who had served in India - and by golly, it was GOOD! Never had anything like it since - AND there was none of this nonsense with your ar se going down for a drink when you sat on the bog the next morning!Www@FoodAQ@Com
