Anyone have a recipe for chocolate soup fed to WW1 refugees?!
Does anyone have a chocolate soup recipe fed to German children by Quakers at the end of WW1!? (May have also been fed to them at end of WW2)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do believe I can get this from Grandma, or may even have it, but will have to dig in my cookbooks a bit (love questions like this!)!.
From what I know, chocolate soup was called "Kveker Suppe" (Suppe means soup)!. Another helpful term might possibly be "Quaker Speisung" ("Speisung" means treat)!. All the internet references I can pull-up are in German (or other ~ I would not be able to tell)!.

Chocolate Soup!.
? lb!. chocolate, 2 ? qts milk and water, sugar to taste, 1 egg yolk, a little vanilla or cinnamon!.
Cook the chocolate soft in a little water, and add the rest; when boiling put in the other ingredients, and cook the beaten white of an egg in spoonfuls on the top!. Serve with fried bread!.
