Answers:
Garlic itself has many health benefits!. Roasting garlic is easy and the result tastes great when eaten alone, but it's at its best when added to foods such as soups or roasts
Cut the top (pointed end) off the head of garlic!.
Place the head of garlic on a piece of foil large enough to wrap the garlic in!. Or use one of those great clay garlic roasters!.
Drizzle olive oil over the garlic!.
Wrap the garlic well with the foil!.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 (175°C) for about 40 minutes, until garlic is soft!.

From my Betty Crocker cookbook, slightly shortened by me!.

Peel each bulb of garlic, leaving just enough to hold the cloves together!. Cut 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the top to expose cloves!. Place cut side up on 12 inch square of aluminum!. Drizzle each bulb with about 2 tsp olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper!. Wrap securely in foil, place wrapped bulbs in a pie plate or shallow baking pan, and bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350o!. It's done when garlic is tender enough when easily pierced with a toothpick or fork!. Serve by gently squeezing the garlic out of the cloves!.

When I make this just for myself I just unwrap it all and roast all the cloves in a homemade foil pouch, but I had it served in the bulb at a restaurant once and it was nice and fancy!. =) You're making me really hungry!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make my roasted garlic this way and it is always tasty!.

1 Preheat the oven to 400°F!.

2 Peel away the outer layers of the garlic bulb skin, leaving the skins of the individual cloves intact!. Using a knife, cut off 1/4 to a 1/2 inch of the top of cloves, exposing the individual cloves of garlic!.

3 Place the garlic heads in a baking pan; muffin pans work well for this purpose!. Drizzle a couple teaspoons of olive oil over each head, using your fingers to make sure the garlic head is well coated!. Cover with aluminum foil!. Bake at 400°F for 30-35 minutes, or until the cloves feel soft when pressed!.

4 Allow the garlic to cool enough so you can touch it without burning yourself!. Use a small small knife cut the skin slightly around each clove!. Use a cocktail fork or your fingers to pull or squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out of their skins!.

I would roast it like the other answerers, but I would add a sprig of fresh rosemary to the foil before I popped the garlic in the oven!. I just happen to love the way rosemary tastes on bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The other ways are great, but when I'm in a rush i throw it in a saute pan over medium heat with some olive oil!. It doesn't take as long and you can add herbs etc the last few minutes to infuse those flavors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
