Springform pan usage?!

Question: Springform pan usage!?
I was digging through my cupboards to see if I had any small round cake pans!. I found what I believe is a springform pan!. (has a latch thing on the side)!. Is there a special use for this or is it simply a way to make the cake loose enough to easily come out of the pan!?

My mom was never a cook and I am still rather clueless in the kitchen!.!.!.!. but trying!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes a sprinform pan is used to bake a cake, torte and mostly a cheesecake!. The ring is removeable after baking so you can slice and serve the cake!.
WARNING: Always test the pan for leaks before pouring your cake batter in the pan because nothing is worse than all of your batter leaking out while baking!. WHAT A MESS! Just fill with water BEFORE to make sure it doesn't leak!. The pans have a tendency to warp & bend when stored!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they are used for cheesecakes, and are usually great for anything that needs tall-side support while baking, but would be difficult to get out of the pan afterwards!.!.!.!.

you just release the latches and pull away the sides, that way you dont ruin your presentationWww@FoodAQ@Com

I use my for regular cakes and cheesecakes!. Just make sure you latch the two pieces together properly so nothing leaks out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

great for cheesecakesWww@FoodAQ@Com
