Your question made me think of the quote - "Why give a man fish when you can teach him to fish!?"!.

Give something from the heart - a recipie they can follow along with some or all of the supplies to make it!!

A breakfast dish including muffins that your family has every time they are in town!.!.!.the great salad recipe you and your girlfriends have whenever you want to feel better!.!.!.a chicken soup or tomato soup recipe you make when your significant other or your kids are sick!.!.!.a dinner recipe that is easy and stellar!.!.!.the sky is the limit!!!

If you compile recipes accompanying the things you want to give these young ladies, they will think of you every time they make them!. This may keep a "legacy": For example, if you do the salad thing, give a basket with the ingredients!. This is very personal and touching!.

What can be more inexpensive then a can of chicken broth, a bag of noodles, and some veggies!!!

Good luck and it was very considerate of you to think to do something "out of the box" for these special females!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think the cookie kits in a jar are adorable gifts!. there are all sorts of recipes for them on line, you put them in a nice mason jar decorate the top then they get to prepare them when they want (you put the ingredients and directions on a nice little card)!. You know some people get tons of baked goods around the holidays, with the jar idea they can prepare them after the holidays when all the baked goods have been eaten up!Www@FoodAQ@Com
