University student, huh!? Well, any recipe for "long pig" will work fine for university student as well, though you may want to lard the student with strips of bacon or perhaps brine the student, because it'll likely be tougher and gamier than long pig usually is!. The upside is that unlike long pig, university students are usually pre-pickled!.!.!.
Okay, cannibal jokes aside, if you've got a full kitchen, you've got way more than most college students do, so here's a few thoughts:
-Fish a la meuniere -- just take fish fillets, dredge them in flour, and fry in butter!. You should be able to get some whitefish fillets like whiting or pacific cod fairly cheaply in the frozen seafood case!.
-Biscuits and gravy -- Bisquick makes perfectly good biscuits, and sausage gravy is just a bechamel sauce with breakfast sausage and a little extra pepper!.
-Spanish omelet -- a simple round omelet with matchstick potatoes in it!. Just make sure you precook the potatoes so they don't taste raw in the final omelet!.
-Marinara sauce -- cook a finely chopped onion with some salt in some olive oil, then add a few cloves of crushed or minced garlic and a can of ground tomatoes, add seasonings (I use basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes) and simmer while cooking spaghetti!.
-Polenta -- Just cornmeal mush!. Many recipes, but the most straightforward way is about an 8:3 ratio of boiling water to coarse cornmeal, with some salt added!. Mix in butter and parmesan cheese before serving!.
(You will find Italian food and breakfast foods like pancakes and waffles will get your butt out of the weeds on quite a number of occasions!. Focus on those!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com
