If a brownie mix does not call for butter, can you use butter anyway?!
The mix calls for oil but no butter!. But the whole purpose I am making the brownies is to use some of my special butter!. Can I use it anyway!? Would I use it in place of the oil or in addition to the oil!? Do I need to get a different kind of mix!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would use a little of your butter in place of some of the oil maybe do 1/2 and 1/2 but don't exceed the amount of the fat that the mix calls for!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Special butter!? Like it's from some special cow!?
Or is it THAT kind of butter!?
I wasn't aware that stoners had such qualms about substituting different kinds of fat in recipes!.
Use a "butter recipe" mix if it makes you feel better!. But oil vs!. butter isn't usually a big problem in, say, bar cookies (though it works very differently in frying and certain recipes, like pie crusts or biscuits!.)
If it really is special butter from Kobe cows or whatever, then eat it on a piece of toast or something!. But if it's that kind of butter, just melt it down or make some cookies with it or something!.
Don't forget to bring a towel!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you can!. To replace the oil in the recipe, melt the butter and let it cool a bit then use the same amount of butter as the oil called for in the recipe!. They will be more glossy on the top, making them look even more appetizing!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can use the butter!. Melt the butter first, not to warm though and follow the directions!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
YES! I do it ALL the time!.!.!.I just melt it and measure it like it was oil!. It always tastes better to me!
