Christmas Wreaths

I have made so many of these cookies that I have had nightmares about them!. They are still one of my absolute favorite Christmas cookies!. They are not hard to make, but they are a little bit time consuming!. The candied cherries make for very attractive cookies!. They have a rich vanilla flavor that melt in your mouth!.

1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
candied green cherries, quartered
candied red cherries, halved

In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy!. Whip in the cream and vanilla until creamy and smooth!. In a small bowl whisk the flour and baking powder, then slowly add to the butter mixture!. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead quickly!. Return to the bowl, cover, and chill for 4 hours!. Take a small ball of dough and roll into strips about 7 inmches long!. Take two strips and twist together into a circle!. Place on the prepared cookie sheets!. Press a red cherry half into each cookie and 2 green cherry quarters on each side to form a "flower"!. Bake 10 to 13 minutes, or until golden!. Cool on the sheets for 5 minutes, then carefully remove onto wire racks!. Store in an airtight container or freeze!.

Take a sugar cookie recipe!. Get a large cookie cutter shaped like a star!. You can use another shape, but I like the star!.
Take your favorite hard candy, I use life savers!.

Cut the shapes out as normal!. Take a smaller cutter and cut the middle out!. Crush up the candy and put it in the middle!. Bake as usual!.
It creates a "stained glass" look!.
The kids love them and they are pretty!Www@FoodAQ@Com
