This was my grandmothers recipe and so nothing was ever measured!. But this is what she would add!.

Diced bread-what ever yiu have on hand
melted butter
onion-chopped
celery-chopped
salt/pepper
ground sage
and a splash of milk

Be careful because if you add to much milk you will get mushy but it will still taste good though!.

You could add dreid fruit or corn to this as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Stuffing:- Lemon & Parsley

1 tsp!. thyme leaves
1/2 tsp!. pepper

Cook and stir sausage, onion and celery until meat is brown and onion is tender!. Drain of fat and add enough butter to sausage fat to measure 1 cup!. Sit butter mixture and about 1/3 of the bread cubes into meat mixture!. Turn into deep bowl!. Add remaining ingredients and toss!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

When you do stuff the bird, the cooking takes so much longer to include cooking the stuffing, the bird usually comes out dry!.

Instead, please consider cooking the stuffing as a dressing (same recipe, but cooked as a casserole)!. The bird cooks more evenly and juicier that way!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alexa: Your preferences should rule on this question!. Most of us stick close to what our mom's did!. We never stuffed the turkey - as living in the south - things were warmer and it could spoil faster!. I grew up eating what we call "dressing" which is simply the stuffing which has been cooked in a separate pan rather than inside the bird!. I usually put half an onion, a couple of stalks of celery some sage(fresh) and maybe an apple inside my turkey - just for flavoring, My dressing consists of crumbled cornbead, diced onions, chopped celery, the meat from about 6 chicken thighs, the juice those thighs were boiled in-lol and about a stick of butter, plus a couple of raw eggs - I sometimes slice several hard boiled eggs into the dressing and sometimes add some of the juice from the turkey!.!.!. always use rubbed sage for the dressing and always make a gravy from the pan drippings of the turkey - sometimes adding the veggies which were inside the turkey!. My in-laws are crazy about Stove Top!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bread, water, butter, sage, onions, celery!. That's what my mom uses and it's great!. It's like bread, half a stick of butter, melted, enough water to make the rest moist, then the rest to taste!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
