Question: Is "modified corn starch" the same as High Fructose Corn Syrup!? Do you think high fructose corn syrup is bad!?
Okay, so ever since that commercial about how high fructose corn syrup is "good" came out, I've been poking around trying to find out what in it is bad for you!.

I was looking through foods I had to see if it was in them, and in some salsa I came across something that said: "Modified corn starch!."

It's probably the same as high fructose corn syrup, right!?

Answers:
High Fructose Corn Syrup is definitely a far cry from modified corn starch!.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is actually a kind of sugar, usually corn syrup that has undergone a process to increase the amount of fructose in it, and has glucose added to it!. (Note: sugar's scientific names will almost always have the -ose suffix)

Modified corn starch, on the other hand, is starch from corn, used as a thickening agent (makes things thicker, like Chinese hot and sour soup), a stabilizer (food additive to maintain appearance, flavor, or taste over time), or an emulsifier (keeps ingredients mixed together properly)!. I don't think Corn Syrup is any worse than sugar!. Most sugar we eat has been factory processed and highly refined!. They're both just fine if you don't overindulge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. There is high fructose corn syrup in just about every product out there and too much sugar is bad for your health & teeth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
