Apple Cobbler

3 medium tart apples, pared, cored and sliced
1 1/4 cups flour divided
4 tbsp!. packed brown sugar, divided
1/2 tsp!. ground allspice
1 1/2 tsp!. baking powder
1/8 tsp!. salt
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 egg, beaten

Place apples in 9" round baking pan; sprinkle with 2 tbsp!. flour, 3 tbsp!. brown sugar and allspice!. Combine remaining dry ingredients!. Combine milk, butter and egg; add to flour mixture!. Mix well!. Drop by spoonfuls onto fruit!. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until topping is golden brown!. Serves 6!.

Mean Chef's Apple Rustic Tarts

Ingredients

STREUSEL YIELDS 3 CUPS
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces unsalted butter, cut into small pieces and frozen

TART FILLING
8 granny smith apples, cored, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes, about 4 cups (2 pounds)
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

RUSTIC PIE DOUGH
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
1/4 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces unsalted butter, chilled, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons water

Directions

1 For the Streusel: In a food processor fitted with a steel blade or by hand with pastry cutter, combine ingredients into a coarse meal- Set aside!.
2 To prepare dough: In a food processor fitted with the steel blade or by hand with a pastry cutter, combine ingredients in a bowl until mixture just comes together!.
3 Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface!.
4 Gather into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill until firm, at least 2 hours!.
5 To assemble tarts: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper!.
6 Lightly dust a work surface and rolling pin with flour!.
7 Roll chilled dough to about 1/8-inch thickness; cut into eight 5-inch circles!.
8 Gather scraps together and reroll dough if necessary!.
9 Spoon 1 tablespoon applesauce onto each circle!.
10 Mound 1/3 cup apples over applesauce!.
11 Taking opposite sides of the dough of each pie, gently stretch each side up and over the filling, pressing dough together at the center!.
12 Continue to work around the pie, repeating this process with other sections, ensuring that dough will not unfold and open during the baking process!.
13 Preheat oven to 375*F!.
14 Place pies at least 2 inches apart on baking sheets!.
15 Mound 1/3 cup streusel on top of each pie!.
16 Bake until the crust is golden brown, about 30 minutes!.
17 Rustic Tarts should be served warm!.

A apple pie would be easy!. You can get one of those refrigerated pie crust to make it easier!. I make pie crust from scratch!.

Peel & core the apples, put them in water with a little lemon juice to keep them from turning brown!. Place one sheet of the pie crust in the bottom of the pan!.
Put slices apples in the bottom of the pan!. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg & some sugar!. Place the second crust on top!. Seal the edges of the crust & bake!. Yum!. Look up a recipe on the web!. Try America's Test Kitchen for a recipe!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
