Is it safe to eat raw meat that you hunt in the wilderness?!
Considering the fact that the animal you hunt is free to roam in the wild and eats actual food from the wild, rather than being injected with drugs, abused, and forced to stand in knee deep crap at a slaughter house, is it usually safe to eat for example, raw deer that you hunted from the wilderness!? As long as it was recently killed and is fresh!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try the SAS survival handbook if you're into this kind of question!.
It'll recommend that you cook meat for all the above reasons - disease, parasites and digestive, as others have said!. It's generally not too hard to build a shelter, an oven or a fire if needed, as long as you can get hold of the right materials!.
Seafood is often eaten raw, but cooking is always safest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree that I wouldn't eat raw deer, and I gave thumbs up to those that said no, only because deer are terribly over populated in certain places (like OH where I live) and they get some sort of infestation of a parasite, at least that's what they told us when they took rifles into the local park to "thin the heard!." I'm not sure how all this works, but for some reason over population makes deer really unhealthy!. However, I eat raw steak all the time, but I pan sear it on all the exposed edges, because they have been exposed to blades at the slaughter house and the butcher!. But the inside is RAW, I love it!. I know you were getting at something else, and I guess if you live in a place that has a predator to deer that keeps the heard at a natural level, go for it! But in OH their predators are killed, legal or not, because deer predators are also cow, pig, dog, and cat predators!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've heard opposing things to this!. One, fresh raw meat won't have had a chance to grow bacteria BUT you face parasites or rabies !. (yes, it's unlikely to get rabies, but is possible) I say BE adventuress, I can't say I wouldn't try it!. Infact, I may have!.!.!.hmmm!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well I wouldn't!. !. !. because I had a buffalo tar tar at a reputable restaurant, sicker then I have ever been!.!.!.!.!.for like 4 hours!. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Any animal can contract a disease either domestic or wild, so I would cook all meats to required temperatures!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would not reccommend eating any type of raw meat today!. Talk to a butcher!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
